Good to know for future hatchings! THANKS Viola for asking and THANKS Cynthia for answering! Just love all the info you learn on this site!
Can't hardly wait much longer!!!! Last night was day 21 and nothing..... I woke up in the night (which is normal for me anyway) and of course I go to check the bators on temps and humidity. I got to see 1 pip! YEAH!!! Could not go back to sleep, but I did....somehow.... When I left for work the pip was bigger and he was cheeping away.... No other pips or wigglers that I could see, but my still air incubator was dead on 99.5 most every chance I checked... Sometimes it may have gotten as high as 100. I never saw any dips. So, I know from reading lots of other peoples posts that the still air does a bit better at like 101. But, I didn't want to take any chances.
But, now, I'm at work.... (yeah, can you tell?) waiting for the clock to move 1 more hour so I can jump in my car and race the 1 hour drive home.... So, in 2 hours I will get to see the progress of my little pip and how many others have joined him. I started with 41 eggs, took out 5 and have 1 more suspect. So keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I have a good hatch and will get to see all kinds of fluffy butts at home!
Come on clock!!!![]()

Yes you can! Have done it many times.![]()
Should I put the weaker chick in with the other ones? I placed him in there earlier today, b/c his incessant, loud chirping is driving me insane! I thought that maybe b/c he could see the other chicks he'd quiet down if he was with them. Honestly, he hasn't. And he acts like the typical, annoying little brother. He's constantly following them around, pecking at them, getting in their way, falling in their food. I mean, I wouldn't blame them if they tried to hurt him, lol. Plus, he's still so much smaller and still pretty matted. The shoes probably don't help. Should I keep him separated?

Urgh! So stressful! WE have 4 healthy chicks, 1 splayed cutie, and a LOUD runt. RUnt had its wing glued to him and i removed the stuff with water, but he still isn't fluffy 24 hours later and he isn't eating...or she. Loud bugger though.

thanks. I did put savea chick in the water and dipped its beak. It drank a little.fun! what kind are you getting?
food is not vitally important until about day 3. just make sure to dip the tip of the beak in water, water is important. you can also give eletrolytes (sav-a-chick is the brand) in the water to give energy when not eating.
pro-biotics are another good thing to add to their water early on, it helps populate their digestive tract with good bacteria which is important for digestion and immune system! again sav-a-chick is the brand![]()
I know how that feels. It is exciting to get closer to hatching time. What are you hatching?
Very good!![]()
