8 chicks have hatched now. I must have around 15-20 pips, trying hard to keep track of them all...

Im struggling to keep humidity up. I have multiple wet sponges and cups of water. I have resorted to just aiming my tubing towards the bottom of the cooler when I add warm water. The cooler may float away and still only be at 65 percent humidity.
Im trying to keep above 70 .. right?
I even closed the bathroom door and turned the shower on.

Congratulations on the pip..first ever! I am thinking your himidity is fine if you have that many sponges in. Your thermometer may not be working right. You don't want to have too much humidity in there right now. It will rise on it's own once they start pipping..it probably already has, even with one pip! Wait..these are chicks..right? Not ducks? No condensation on the top of the bator windows, if you have them. And, for chickens, 65% is oodles. I go between 55 to 62% for my chicks. They can get too wet in there, and drown. Take some sponges out. I'm sure you have plenty of humidity in there..unless..like I said, they are duck eggs?

One more thing, unplug both vents, if you haven't already,, they need oxygen!!

No. Definitely chicken eggs! Silkies and ees! Thanks for the advice. I see no condensation on the top. Holding @ 65 / 66 . Terrified of shrink wrapping. Guess I should worry about drowning too. Lol

Or give it to God and go clean the kitchen! Ahh im a nervous mommy

Plenty of ventilation. Its a homemade cooler bator. Ive been worried about plenty oxygen.. so then I worried I had too much so it was hard to keep humidity? Oh I can worry about anything!

I actually can't take pictures through my incubator. The windows are foggy and smeary, though both plugs are out.

9 chicks....3 are LF Ameraucanas. One is definitely a light splash, I can't tell whether the other 2 are blue or black because they are still wet.

I found the less I worry the better hatches I have. Keeps me from messing with everything if I let it go as naturally as I can in an incubator. Messing with styros cause me to have massive spikes and drops so I just get it set and let it be. My home made bator is most reliable. LG's used for hatching right now.

I am up to 16 hatched (BYM and BA) and about 4 in different states of zip and still more pipping. 36/38 made lock down. Will be checking periodically to make sure no major issues. 2nd hatcher I am using for fluff up machine is getting crowded. Next hatch due the 24th and those are more ducks. Then the 30th. So I have a few days break between them. Friday I am setting another bunch of eggs. So I will probably be incubating for quite awhile.
