May Hatch-a-Long!

Day 22 here and we have 4 pips and chirping that became very obvious last night continues.

Hoping to see pips from the other 8 soon!

Well 13 of 14 hatched. One was turned really sstrange with its head folded in against its body. Never pipped. Couldn't with how It was turned. Last to hatch is having a hard time finding it's feet, but I've seen some lay there for hours before moving about. Wish it would hurry so I can start my next batch

Wow, nice hatch! That little one laying around could be put into a cup..with a paper towel in the bottom..let it sleep it off in the cup just outside the heat source in the brooder. Check on it once in a while to make sure it isn't too warm, or too cold. You will find the right spot..then you can get going on your other hatch.

Wow, nice hatch!  That little one laying around could be put into a cup..with a paper towel in the bottom..let it sleep it off in the cup just outside the heat source in the brooder.  Check on it once in a while to make sure it isn't too warm, or too cold.  You will find the right spot..then you can get going on your other hatch.
it was just a waiting game. No big deal. I just leave them be and eventually they rest enough to start moving about. All 13 are happy and fluffy in the brooder. Thanks.
It is a good hatch, I'm telling you what, brinsea knows their stuff. Last hatch was 18/18. This one was 13/14. Pretty darn good. The one that didn't make it was because the chick was in a really weird position. It's feet were towards the big end and it's back was curled in the little end with its head right In the middle.. A lot of the chick's this hatch were positioned wrong. Because I have a huge buff orpington rooster fertilizing bantam eggs. Well 1 large ee, 2 small salmon faverolles and a really small barnyard bantam...so I have big chick's stuffed into tiny eggs.

Well, one of my two bantam cochin eggs is pipped. Not the other..why do I have a bad feeling about the other. :/ If one has pipped by this time on day 20, I expect others to pip too..but I have to keep telling myself, there is only one other!

Just hang in there. I always get one early bird. The others follow eventually. But I often worry something is wrong if they don't all go right to it
