May Hatch-a-Long!

It is day 17, I am using an automatic egg turner for the first time do I turn it off today or tomorrow? And do I start to raise the humidity today or tomorrow? I know some hatch early. It was at 32 this morning, I added some water to it and its at 55 now. I candeled my eggs one last time this morning I could barley see anyone lol but 1 seems smaller than the others, its moving though. I hope the temperature spike they survived didn't mess them up!

At 7 p.m. today, we're at 21 days.
I just now felt like jumping up to check. One of the broodies was up stretching and it was easier to peek.
We have our first external pip!
I gently tapped on the side of the egg and heard low volume peeping.
This is one of the few standard size eggs under the 2 broody team.

Oh yeah LOL April 12th! Ok so we are good?! This is really nerve wracking LOL. But exciting! I see three more with pips!
They are precious little silkies! Idk what colors they will be. My daughter picked the rooster! And our girls are three different colors.

I want to ask so I don't go overboard in either direction:
In February I waited too long when I'd seen a tiny beak sticking thru the external pip...ended up assisting too late.
I've always heard that you can hear a Loud peeping from inside, but this is the first time I've ever heard peeping from inside an egg. That's obviously a good sign. I just wonder if others have opinions on how long--very approximately--it should take between the pip shown above and beginning a zip?
Being a chick is sure hard work!

Yay! That's so awesome! I LOVE hatching eggs! My broody won't let me check her like I do the incubator lol.

I can't wait. I have 2 Broodies right now. One is due 5/9-5/11 and the other is 5/23.

That's SO exciting! I take little Miss "Mini-hen" is the first, and the big girl in the top pic is the second?
What breed is the large hen? She looks like a lace globe! Is she sitting already in that pic?
You seem to have very lovely broodies!

I didn't say it was free of pecking, just that I looked, lol. Peaches, the one who was on the nest when I took that pic is a bit calmer than Chula. Chula pecks lots!
The chick from that egg is out! I assisted at the end bcs I didn't see a zip starting and the voice was lower than I was comfortable with.
I took video but it won't load on here (?) I'll try emailing it to myself and loading it that way.
It's kind of odd that the other 2 pips I see now are also the standard sized eggs. (The rest of the eggs in this clutch are silkie, 4 of which were laid after the 21 days started counting by the broodies' mom!) A little while ago I went to check on the one that hatched and saw the same size pips as the first was when I took that first pic.
I'm not sure if it's due to the extremely dry weather here--even when we had a prediction of storms and rain for hours I didn't get a drop! But I decided to assist by the color of the membrane and the shell was coming off very easily, meaning the membrane may have been shrinking. I hope that made sense.
I heard another peeper from one of the next eggs. That has to be the cutest thing in the world!
