Sorry...that really stinks! Were they shipped eggs? Congrats on what you did get...4 is better than zero...

no they are not shipped eggs
they are from my flock
5 were cracked and 4 were dead chicks inside the eggs
I have a broody hen now that set on 9 eggs
2 to 3 days until they hach

I haven't posted since BYC moved. So to get caught up, my broody hatched her eggs between 5/9-5/12 and I once again have funky chickens. So far she seems to be a really good momma. Yesterday she took them out amongst the flock and did pretty good.

My mini broody is due to hatch her eggs starting tomorrow night and the rest of the shipped eggs we put in the incubator and those are due 5/26.

Lastly, my first broody who hatched her babies on 3/12 & 3/13 has decided that she would go broody again. So I plan to put 4 or 5 EE eggs under her since we have had no luck getting them to hatch thus far. She is a very skittish momma but a good broody. This is now her second time and she isn't even a year old yet.

I thought when I joined this hatch along all wa going well, UNTIL this morning I turned the eggs in their carton and they spilled out everywhere cracking more than half the eggs! I put nail polish on the cracks and taped some cloth on badly cracked ones. None of the badly cracked ones were oozing, but a hairline crack on another was. I'm not sure what to do and I'm scared that I've killed all my chicks!

I have about 3 dozen eggs due on the 29th. Almost all of them looking good!
I bought 6 mille fleur Sabelpoot bantam eggs though and only one of them has made it to day 15

I have 6 working laying boxes right now and about 6 or 7 broodies.
The number is growing by the day.
Debating whether to let one of them actually hatch. The problem is all my birds are mixed together right now and I would only have mutt eggs for them. I can't decide.

Only day 8, and thanks, it's going to be a long two weeks praying these eggs make it through!

Well today is day 22 and out of the 9 eggs that made it I have 5 beautiful little chicks and one more that is taking its time. It has pipped so may have one more by morning. I will post pic when I get them out.

Your babies and hens are beautiful!!! I'm interested to hear how your shipped eggs do. All of mine are shipped...so, I'm not expecting much. At least that is what I keep telling myself, trying to prevent myself from being too disappointed.
