Incubator was not too good. Only 5 and they were all the mixed breed chicks.

What kind of incubator are you using? I had mad swings in the styrobator when I first started hatching....Then I changed it's location and filled it up with filled canning jars to help stabilize the temps better. ( Away from sun, heat, open doors and windows ) Not sure if any of that will be of help to you!My temperature keeps messing around I woke up to it being to low this morning, and the other day it was too high. Hopefully I haven't lost any from that. I need to find something to keep it steady.
I'm freaking out.
Farm Innovators still air, I'm doing a dry hatch. Last time I had set 42 eggs, it did fine as all of them made it to lockdown and 39 hatched. What kind of incubator are you using? Still air's need to run a little hotter then circulated. Glad you are holding your temps now.Farm Innovators still air, I'm doing a dry hatch. Last time I had set 42 eggs, it did fine as all of them made it to lockdown and 39 hatched.
I'll have to see what I can do. It's at an even 100 and has been holding for a few hours![]()
Congrats on your hatch! I love that about the mornings! I started setting my eggs in the evening just so it's a cool surprise in the a.m. I have heard so much about the hedemora too & would love them at some point! Is this your first time with this breed?^ Any time then, how exciting!
When I woke up this morning (got up at 5 because I just couldn't wait to check) I had two drying Hedemora staring back at me![]()
Are you having a lot of variety with your EEs? I tucked six eggs from my in-laws flock just to fill up the gaps and so far 5 have hatched-- they were the first to crack out a day before the Hedemora. The possibilities are a mix of EE, White Leghorn, Australorp, or Partridge Rock, and so far they all are colored differently. I can definitely see the cheek fluff.Congrats on your hatch! I am in hatch now too- day 20. I had two EE last night when I went to bed and it looked like 8 this am hatched. Those were from my own chicks....lol..they remind me of popcorn! Very different experience then I have had in all my other hatches with shipped eggs...
