May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

Good Morning everyone,

Lockdown today...............................

Still have 44.....2 real iffy but I do not toss quickly .learned hard lessons doing that.
O.K...................I have been hatching for three or four years..............................always weekly hatches . a dozen or less at a time.
First time with a potential large hatch and I am a little nervous.
Wish I had not started incubating in my hatcher so I had 2 hatchers but......to late now...................

.
I use cardboard boxes for brooders the first few weeks. Easy to change out a few times a week then I just burn them.
Then I change to pegboards that are 2x4x2 held together with slip ties...................
I do not have a clue what I will do this time...
WHAT IF THEY ALL HATCH.......................................

Good Grief....................Really...who would think that 31 eggs traveling from the other side of the country would develop.
Oh Well..........Hang in there with me..................think I MAY GO OVER THE EDGE THIS TIME....

Thanks that is encouraging. I am going to try to candle again tomorrow. I hope I will be able to see something in there???? I think it will be easier to do it on my own when it is quiet. Though I am not quite sure what I will do if they are all dead?????? Ummmmm ????? Should I tell DH and upst him or leave them the whole way and let him figure it for himself like last time. OMG he fusses over them and calls them his girls and they are still EGGS!!!!!

Oes

Using a really bright flashlight will help. They are white eggs, so you should DEFINITELY be able to see veining at the very least, if they are developing.

I would just let him know if they aren't viable. I'd be much more disappointed if I'd dedicated 3 weeks thinking they were going to hatch and have none of them be viable :\. That and leaving them in there risks having one go rotten and could kill any viable embryos if left.

I think we all do oes from the time I pick them up at the breeder to the time I put them in the brooder I think to much is lost in all the stress once you get it down you will see that all the tinkering and changes you made were just making it harder to hatch them out they are allot more durable and nowhere near as sensitive as one would think although they are still eggs and proper care is needed for there sucsess they can sustain hiccups along the way and still satisfy even the worst case failure .... DONT DISSTAIN .... Keep moving forward
