May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

my humidity is on 88% is that bad please help my hatch is due on monday

I keep my humidity around 60/62. You can take out any extra things you have in for humidity. Do you have a sponge in? Do you have a cloth in? Just fill the wells, you should be fine. If this is the first day, don't worry about opening it enough like some have suggested to get the humidity down, that really is too high. I am just catching up here, so maybe someone else has helped you out, and you've fixed it! I will see by the time I catch up. lol...

Ha, you did it..a post right above mine. That's good. Now that you have it down, it should stay down with the lid on.

lol my bator is the (little giant) it has a space for water so i took some out with paper towel. I'm so exited cant wait. maybe I'm getting addicted to this. lol

My chicks started hatching Thursday at 4:00-6:00, and are sill hatching. We had a power outage, and they probably got a little cold, is the reason why. But,,,I still have 13 to hatch!

OES there is always a temp spike around day 14, because that is when the chicks start to really put out their own body heat. Day 3 there is also a little bump up in temp due to development beginning in the eggs.

A little spike is ok and can be delt with a massive spike for no reason of 110! is incredible and not survivable!

There is no sign of movement or pipping. we are day 23 now

It does not look good. I float tested one this morning there was no sign of life.

Oes - the humidity has been 55 I can't get it to stay any higher no matter what I do. I think it is over. We may egg topsy tomorrow.

I am so so sorry... I suggest you get some chicks now, and worry about the next hatch later. In the future I think you need a new incubator, so you can pick up on the hatching when you feel like it. Try to get your hands on some local eggs next time, they usually do much better. Looking forward to see chicken photos from you! Wether they are bought or hatched at home doesnt really matter
