I feel so bad for the ones that died. This is coming so hard for me because i like hatching and seeing them run around but hubby dont like the smell inside the house, and the garage is just too hot for them. help please

What do you need help with? Sounds like you know your answer. They should be feathered out completely, including feathers under their wings, before you should take away their heat lamp completely. It's ok to turn it off for a couple hours or put them outside for a couple hours at a time though. Could you set up a heated brooder outside? You just need to have it predator proofed and have an outlet outside

I have three baby Delawares. :) These coming from eggs that were replaced because of a bad hatch before. The air sacs on them have just been awful. But now, between this hatch and the last, I have 4. I'm a happy camper with that.
I now have some RIR's in, with even worse air sacs! I'm talking saddle air sacs, either on one side or both! Going to assist on day 20. No way they will be able to turn in those eggs. I lost one of my Delawares that way..didn't assist, it had pipped internally, but died because it couldn't turn and zip. Shipped

eggs!

So sad you lost two of the chicks. We all make mistakes so don;t beat yourself up over it.

Now the other thing is you asked for help! - ohhhhh this is hard! Chickens -v- Hubby????
You do realise that chicken math is now in your blood and you will never be able to part with chickens. In fact chicken law states that you can never have less than you started out with and no chicken should ever be alone! - what more can I say honey! HATCH MORE CHICKS - have them all over the house!
The good thing about your predicament is that if hubby falls over due to the chicken smell you have created - they WILL eat him!

Oes - good luck with that one!

lol too funny. hubby better be ok with them. dont want an upset wiffy lol. but i do understand about the smell so i bought pine shavings and will change as needed. just so i can continue hatching. at some point i guess they will be for dinner but i dont even want to think of that now. yet thats whats good about this hobby. you know what your feeding them and not that adificial food that will make us sick at some point.

Once he tastes your first chicken - hatched, reared, culled, plucked and cooked by your own fair hands - he will be on chick duty for sure!
The way to a mans heart is always through his stomach!

Oes - Men don't usually smell too good either!

Because of space and timing issues I had to feet creative with my 5/6 week chicks. They were getting to crowded in the brooder and I have new babies hatching as we speak that need it soon. The new coop isn't done yet. I recently purchased a second hand 4x4 (x6 ft tall) dog kennel for cheap. I was using it for a broody hen and her babies but just moved them into another coop. Anyway, I wrapped 3 sides of this kennel in a tarp to keep wind and rain out, put down bedding, 2 roosts, and wire mesh on the front so the babies can't sneak out of the bars. It came with a tarp on the top that also keeps out rain. Because of the cold I rigged up their heat lamp inside the kennel so it shines down on them from about 4 ft up. Here is a picture of it from last night.

I'll go take a picture of it in a few minutes so you can see the outside. It's not exactly money saving because a lot of the heat is lost, but since this is temporary for just a few days I don't mind. Maybe you could come up with something similar? I'll get a few pictures and post soon.
