May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

I finally got my duck eggs. I'll put them in the incubator tomorrow. Everyone may be done for the month by time mine hatch.
And yes, crazyhen, I've had two hatches and by the end my incubator makes me want to gag. I was worried about all of those poor chicks in there breathing the air.

I have a baby!!! My Black bantam silkie egg one hatched!!! I am so happy!!!!

Wow 45?! That is crazy awesome  !! You are going to have a great hatch I'm guessing...:D . Doesn't assisting look scary? I have done intervened for only two eggs and I was a nervouse wreck by the end. Maybe it gets easier with more experience...but I'm sure you won't have to do any of that stuff. Here is another article that I really liked about dry hatching. It made me feel a lot better about not keeping the humidity perfect at all times. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/incubation-cheat-sheet I love how many great articles have been written by people who have so much hatching experience. And some of them if emailed are said to even respond and walk you through assisted hatches, which is so kind hearted of them!
Again, thanks so much. Another great article that cleared up a couple of things for me. I do have a hard time with the humidity level. We've had rain and just damp, yucky weather lately and my humidity level is all over the place. I candled my iffy eggs yesterday and ended up removing two with more than obvious blood rings...cracked them open and confirmed that I'm starting to interpret things correctly. That leaves me 40 in the bator and 15 days to go!
Well I tucked this motley crew of barnyard mixes into lockdown a day early, as I will be gone for a couple days. Wish me luck!
those are really, REALLY gorgeous eggs! What breed is laying those beautiful blue ones for you?

Avoiding the temptation to candle is not easy but possible. Sunday night is candling time (7 days for 1 batch and 14 days for the other batch).... Going to keep my hands busy until then catching up some spring cleaning and yard work.

It doesn't look like she'll have any company right now. If there's still no others by tomorrow evening I will go pickup at least one chick for company. I was really hoping for a few more, but after everything going on- I'm happy to have one baby
