May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

I'm in! Just put a dozen eggs in our homemade mini-bator last night past midnight (yes! That's what we crazy chicken people do at night). It's a rather motley mix of RIR, Polish, Sebright, RIR/Sussex cross, and even a few mutts. I'm counting the beginning of incubation from today, April 18-th (since I placed the eggs past midnight), and approximate hatching date will be May 8-th.

I do wonder though... sorry if it's a silly question... the Sebright eggs are much smaller than any egg I've ever seen (it's our first shot with this breed), could they hatch sooner than the rest?

Good luck everyone!

PS: I also have a broody hen sitting on a clutch of eggs due to hatch on Saturday, so exciting!

They should take 21 days just like other chickens but that being said, I've hatched silver sebrights for a guy before and they started popping out at 19 days. The majority hatched on day 21 though.

Ha. I'm trying to not touch them till day 7. I even taped it up. I have no self control.

Hahahahah!!!! On my first hatch, I candled every day until lockdown! I'm on day 6 of my first duck hatch and I've only candled when they arrived (to see air cells), after they sat 24 hours (to see if air cells re-attached), day 4, and day 6.

Oh OK, then I won't hold my breath to see them sooner!

I candled this morning, only because I am hatching shipped eggs. Its not looking good. I cannot see air cells in 3 of them. The ones I see air cells in, they just dont look right.

I put in 3 unknown farm fresh brown eggs(yes, they had a rooster) on the 15th and put in 4 more yesterday from the same place. I guess it'll be a surprise inside because I have no clue what breeds they came from xD

Day 8 here... woot woot!!! ButI I have a question. I candled last night and I suspect a couple of the eggs may have blood rings. My question is... if I just suspect a blood ring should I take them out immediately or can I wait a couple more days and candle again to see if they are more clear then?
