May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

Well, double dang................

Candled Sunday and did not check the incubator since then
Temp was 103 tonight .Haven't a clue if I have killed the hatch..........................
Just did not think about our temps jumping into the 80"s......and to give myself a break.
I am still recovering after my hospital stay.
I have about 50 eggs I there......most shipped.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lock down Monday....I'll candle a few later.

Cleaned Serama cages today..they are by far the sweeties little things......................
Had to clip toenails and they just put up with it and cuddled....
I'll see if I can post some pictures tomorrow.....................

Good thoughts going your way with hatches................

103 is doable. But you dont want to hit that 104 mark or higher. Shipped eggs are becoming a huge stressor for me

Thanks jnjmanning..
I candled a few.. The air cells look good but could not see if there was movement.....( old eyes)
Also saw nice veining.................soooooooo, maybe there is hope.

3 of mine pipped around 2:00 am. Only one has progressed since then and nothing from the others so far. I'm sure the others are boiled. :(. Should I be concerned that there is no progress on the other two?

Hey guys! My eggs will be due on the 21st and the 28th! Super excited!!! I haven't hatched chicks out for a long time.

OK this Chick is a big mouth! Fidel/Fifi is now standing! Flops around a lot, but standing! Looks like I will be the next one walking around with a chick in my bra.....lol Pics in the morning, I need some sleep!

Yea!!! Glad it's survived!!! Get a bra for your husband and he can help!! Lol!! :D

. Thanks for the kind words Mel, my grandma used to say nothing ventured nothing gained so I guess I get my determination from her , Here the back yard poultry game is a joke people have been happy with four or five eggs a week for a ton of feed and when they attain six that bird is something special most of the local fowl here are game fowl or jungle fowl and the so called good stock is propagated for fighting ability and little is left for eggs and meat so last year I took maters into my own hands and started to bring in eggs from quality pure lines from the states to addres my own needs and for the love of the hobby I love to hatch and breed and am constantly trying to improve my flock with big meaty fast growing dual porpoise birds that have only been seen in books in this part of the world it has been a lot of fun and my family and myself enjoy it so it's nice have somthing we all love to do together I just wish it was a lil more easy to find the stock that I want but is is cool to have people drive by our place and turn around to come back to ask where we get the giant chickens from lol
Really? They're all light breeds? Wow. You might be writing history, introducing these breeds to south america. I'm sure once people get their eyes up for these beautiful and useful birds they'll be running your door down trying to get a hold of some!

And as for the light sussex, you should let the breeder of the eggs know that the fertility rate was so low, and then try again with eggs from a different breeder or after this breeder has done some culling and replacing.

I just candled my shipped hedemora eggs that are on day 9. Luckily all the eggs that I marked as suspicious turns out to have moving and wiggling embryos inside. But seriously, those aircells...They're ALL OVER THE PLACE
ep.gif
And they're huge! Even though I've had the humidity alot higher than what I usually do because of staggered hatching... I'd say they're covering 1/3 of the egg already. They're hatching size. It could look like I'm gonna get some weak small chicks out of this - if they hatch at all...

Any experiences?

Yes, my hatch last night. And I had to assist. Those saddle large air cells are a killer for sure. Only 1 hatched, the other 2 pipped internally and died.
