Time will be on your side. You might be able to tell better by day 10. It will get darker and darker as the chick develops. I have a couple brown porous ones and I could just barely see development by day 7.Thanks to everyone who replied and verified that my constant bator checking is completely normal...well, with chicken lovers anyway.![]()
So today is day 4 and I'm candling and documenting everything...we'll see how that goes. I think I have a couple with blood rings. Crossing my fingers there are no more.
Oh, quick question...most of these eggs are fairly porous. How can you tell if the egg is fertile and developing with porous spots all over it?
Interesting! Do you do this specifically with shipped eggs or all of your eggs?I stop turning all my eggs on Day 16 and it seemed to really help my hatch rate. I had several in the wrong positions in previous hatches and this last hatch was a TON better.
It's definitely addicting. Haha!Day 14+15 for me. i candled the eggs a little while ago and saw a foot!
Im using a homemade incubator and i am amazed that anything developed. this started out as an experiment but now Im planning for more larger hatches lol.
