Thanks to everyone who replied and verified that my constant bator checking is completely normal...well, with chicken lovers anyway.

So today is day 4 and I'm candling and documenting everything...we'll see how that goes. I think I have a couple with blood rings. Crossing my fingers there are no more.

Oh, quick question...most of these eggs are fairly porous. How can you tell if the egg is fertile and developing with porous spots all over it?
Time will be on your side. You might be able to tell better by day 10. It will get darker and darker as the chick develops. I have a couple brown porous ones and I could just barely see development by day 7.

Day 14+15 for me. i candled the eggs a little while ago and saw a foot!
Im using a homemade incubator and i am amazed that anything developed. this started out as an experiment but now Im planning for more larger hatches lol.
I think Im addicted

My first batch which is 6 frizzled polish are looking fantastic! Due to hatch 5/9. I am lucky my eggs are white, so I can see tons of action in there. I put 15 Tolbunts in the bator 6 days ago. Aircells on most are still pretty wonky. And just placed 8 more Tolbunts this morning. I hatch all my eggs now in cut down egg cartons. And it is essential for shipped eggs. Also got the hint to stop the turner on shipped eggs at day 16/17. Not sure why this would help shipped eggs get a better hatch rate. I dont start turning till at least day 5 on shipped eggs.
