well all goes good on the start of day 6 for the American immigrant eggs both bators @ 100.0 and 32% , tomarrow night is candle night hope to see solid development in them all but i know it is unlikely and its time to toss the clears and ringers, sometimes i just hate to candle but i also cant wait to see whats going on inside,,,,,,,,torn i tell ya lol

I was able to upload the assisted hatch clip to youtube so I could show you guys. The gooey stuff in the end was all hatching gunk, no yolk as it was all absorbed. You can see he was pretty much stuck in the shell due to low humidity (I'm doing staggered hatches, and this one zipped a day early). Hope y'all enjoy!

Here's a photo of the same chicken the day after hatching. Named it Rebekah Mikaelson. Another TVD-chick. Haha!

That is a wonderful video--so clear! You are very skilled. I'm glad you were able to help the chick out. One chick in my last batch zipped at 2:30 AM, looked ready to burst out of the shell and was wobbling. I thought it was going to hatch in half an hour (I saw the feathers poking out as the chick worked) so I finally went to bed. By morning, it had died for some reason.
"Rebekah" is very cute

That is a hoot! I would be afraid if my wife enjoyed chickens too. As it is, she tolerates them, and that is all that keeps me from going overboard. When I lived out in the country, I had a big old wooden incubator that would do 250 eggs. I raised so many chickens that we had to eat a chicken a day just to keep up. Our kids just laugh now days when they talk about chickens. Hopefully I will be able to get one of my grand kids hooked in the future

I have my 3 yr old grandson M-F. I already have him hooked! He gathers eggs with me and can tell you what hen laid which egg. When I cook him eggs he picks out which egg he wants. When he is done, he goes outside and thanks the hen.....LOL He arrived this morning and announced, "is today lockdown???" My other grands keep the chickens socialized. Especially my grand daughters. They LOVE holding them and mothering them. I have plenty of helpers I have 10 grandchildren, 8 which live close.

Well I am on lockdown(3 eggs). The bator is having trouble getting the temp back up. Its been a couple hrs and its just up to 97, humidity 55%. Not sure if it is the added moisture or what. This is the first time using this bator, but I dont remember mine ever taking this long to adjust. I will give it a little more time before I mess with the temp.
Also all my eggs are in egg cartons. These are all shipped eggs, Polish crested, mixed colors with a Polish Frizzle Roo. There is a chance I could get some frizzles, but I just LOVE the Polish breed.

This is for Oesdog. This is how I hatch all my eggs now, in an egg carton. I cut down the sides and cut a hole in the bottom, about the size of a nickle, for good air circulation. This keeps the aircell up, and I dont have eggs rolling all over when hatched ones start moving. It has worked great for me so far.

I hatch with the eggs upright in cartons too. Works well and keeps the eggs from getting banged around. I hatched 11 wyandottes this past weekend and have another batch (plus 3 turkey eggs) due May 12th and another due May26th. And I'll probably just load more eggs in the bator as space allows. I have a bit of a hatching addiction!
