May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

Can u even find a NASA grade thermometer to read a true ,1 degree ? If so how much does this unit cost ? Can we buy them surplus now that the shuttle program is done ? Lol

You need that incubator especially the styrofoam ones, in a room that stays 60-70degrees consistantly. Are you sure it is the bator and not your temp gauge? When I was setting up the 2nd bator, I would get stable for a couple days them bam my temp would jump or drop. This is an empty bator. So I decided to test the thermostats with my ones in my other bator that I knew were working. That was the issue. Also, when you filled the humidity tray, did you put in warm water? Cool water? Tepid water?

The humidity tray was filled with tepid water from the tap. - I thought that was ok as that is what the instructions said. Every two days make sure the centre ring is filled up with tepid water.
This we did! Thus on this day it was due to be topped up! We have three temp gages and so they can;t all be faulty! One reading the humidity too. I am totaly not sure what was going on with it.
We went through the entire 18 days last month without any bother then I got a spike for NO reason then too. Though none of the eggs seemed to have ever started to delvelope when eggtopsied. They were all litterally scrambled egg! Slow cooked of course! How could that happen? Now I think the same will happen this time. If we don;t get chicks this time I am dumping this bator. Our home made one at least gave us two live chicks even though 6 others were shrink wraped. ???????? I hope something is still alive? I hope that we got the heat down in time.

I am so sorry! How old is your bator? I agree I would use one that I know works!

Hey jn why don't you just cut that ole fussy twit out and order breeding stock direct from greenfire ? That's where hers came from they were the first to import them into the states so all of them most likely came from greenfire stock
