May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

ok seven cohins set 5/9 9:55 pm in the innovators 2200 expected hatch date 5/31 there we go jac third row right Fidel castros eggs set for revolution the 31st the blue EE under the digi was layed this morning andrea just had to toss it in since it was open lol

lol Jim you know hatching is addictive,,,,, i was at a motorcycle swap meet a few months back and was talking with a group of guys standing in the parking lot one guy asked if i wanted to ride up the road and grab a few beers it was a sunday afternoon and i had to work in the AM so i declined and said no i dont drink to much anymore and not on days when i work in the morning another couple of guys were passing around a joint and i declined and said no i dont smoke to much any more the third guy looked at me kinda funny and said what do you do ? i said i ride a harley and hatch chickens ,,,,,,,,,,,

Still just the one pip. But its still alive. I can see it move the shell every once in awhile For once I would like to wake up and they were all hatched....LOL

Wish I was closer. I live in MO so pickup would be impossable and shipping would kill my chicken budget. Gonna keep a close eye on CL i KNOW someone will have a guy they don't want. I have 10 4 wk pullets to go with the older hen I have when they get a little older.

I am in in ok or I would share with you too!

well, melinda90, he and now mom, both have come to love the entire process. the only thing is, he now has bragging rights! he beat my hatch rate! i tease him... it was just beginners luck lol always a great idea to share your knowledge and fun with the children, keep us posted wishapup, you're right we used to use horses for therapy, surely there's a way to use chickens as well i know they certainly help me through my day, so entertaining

That is funny and cute. And great memories to have sharing this. I send my kids to coop for chicken therapy and or bunny therapy. Girls great. Especially if they just need time to cool off.

So here is my 1st hatch result. I bought 6 Polish Frizzle eggs, they shipped 9, only 7 made it into bator, 3 made it to lockdown, 1 pipped, I had to finish the hatch. It is alive but very weak, just got a couple drops of sav a chick in it. Will update "Miracle" in the morning. Next hatch is 14 Tolbunt Polish, lockdown is Tuesday, hatch day is 1 week from tomorrow. Next is another batch of Tolbunts, hatch is 4 days later. Then tonight I placed 24 Sizzles in the bator. Hatch day of May 31st. So I will have 4 hatches this month. Good Lord!

Sound like me. I like chicks hatching every week. It never gets old!

Wanted to update my May 5th hatch...8 out of 9 hatched on May 5th...on May 7th, #9 hatched for 9 out of nine. I guess the extra days of turning didn't hurt so bad, but did delay hatching. Takes them a day to get oriented..#9 still started zipping at the pointed end and was a runt.

Candled Sunday and did not check the incubator since then
Temp was 103 tonight .Haven't a clue if I have killed the hatch..........................
Just did not think about our temps jumping into the 80"s......and to give myself a break.
I am still recovering after my hospital stay.
I have about 50 eggs I there......most shipped.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lock down Monday....I'll candle a few later.

Cleaned Serama cages today..they are by far the sweeties little things......................
Had to clip toenails and they just put up with it and cuddled....
I'll see if I can post some pictures tomorrow.....................

OK this Chick is a big mouth! Fidel/Fifi is now standing! Flops around a lot, but standing! Looks like I will be the next one walking around with a chick in my bra.....lol Pics in the morning, I need some sleep!
