May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

Locked down 29 Coturnix quail this morning....
I wish you could candle these guys without destroying the safety coating on the egg...
Sure makes for a nervous 17 days

Thursday locking down the rainbow flock
2 Black Austrolorp, 4 Lavendar Orps, 4 Swedish Flower, 4 Old English game, 2 Buff Silkies, 2 Buff Brahamas, and 6 "eggers choice" surprise eggs (of course they are green and blue so I have an idea of what might be inside)

I stumbled onto something last night that allows me to candle my cotunix eggs great! I have an app on my phone that turns the flash LED on steady, for a flashlight. with the rubber phone cover that I have on, the coturnix eggs seal up the hole and I can see all but a few of those wierd gray chalky looking eggs. Not sure an arc welder would throw off enough light to see through those.

I once had a 1 out of 21, but that was my first hatch.


Same situation in the broody coop as yesterday, one chick out, three eggs with miniature cracks.The three have been like this for 18 hours, and they aren't making any noise

I'm in the same boat I had 18 light Sussex candle clear one is a iffy outta all . tomorrow will tell

OK well here ya go jac here is the lil feather foot that joined the world after 16 hrs in a egg carton she/he hatched about 6am after screaming from its egg for about 9 hrs kept me up all night lol
