What is a broody? I saw a post where someone referenced their "broody who just hatched chicks". Thanks....

That's a hen that sets on eggs for 21 days.

She gets all clucky and won't get off of the nest until eggs hatch....

A broody is a hen who has decided to hatch a clutch of eggs.

Thank's so much for the info..... Will they do it on their own or do you just not collect eggs for awhile and they start hatching?

We have a few broody experts here... but in my experience ... when my Olivia go broody I collect a few of the others to slip under her. She's happy to take anybody's eggs as long as she can complete her set.
