what could have stuck its paws in this small space and grabbed this roo?? During daylight! There’s feathers dragged all the way into the woods. Just his head is missing. Just before dinner time! We’re in Southern Georgia if that helps.

My guess would be weasel, coon or opossom. Yes, they do come out during the day if they have an opportunity to eat.
It’s just so strange. We have two dogs and a cat.. the only predator that has even TRIED are hawks. I can’t believe something like that would have gotten past security. I’ve never even seen a raccoon or weasel the 3 years we’ve lived here. Ugh.

Bummer :(
How big are the holes in that mesh?
Either he stuck his head out and got nabbed by something or coon reached in.

About 1/2 inch. They only go in there in the day because it’s a huge area for them to have some fun. At night I move them into their coop which has the 1/4 inch hardware cloth. Now we’re wrapping the run with the hardware cloth as well.

I had a bobcat do this to my make guinea. He was able to get his paws in there and kill 3, but couldn’t remove them from the coop at all. This was when we found out we had a bobcat problem, since then I’ve enclosed the bottom of the coop with plywood/barbed wire and mesh. Haven’t lost any since.
