Maybe I'm overreacting, but............................

Maybe it's a rooster.

Are you using a red heat lamp?

When bringing home my banties, one of the silkies was crying up a storm until I turned on the red heat lamp.

From then on, he (first attempt at crowing this morning) just made soft happy chirps.

Good luck with your little ones.

In so far as checking bottoms, I realized as soon as I posted that how that sounded. LOL. My Katie would die if she knew of this conversation. She's been away at camp all week and things have been quieter! I will definately be naming this peep Katie, lol. As soon as I have my coffee I will go out and check on them (the peeps), but when I was in the kitchen, I swear I could hear them, and they're about 50 - 75 feet away in the shed!
Thank you for the morning smiles,
Donna

I agree. I have one too that is constantly peeping. It is supposed to be a pullet but also likes to run and jump on the other chicks. I have one hen that used to be a bully. Maybe I have another bully in this group. I watch Chick TV. My husband thinks I've lost it.

I love chicken TV!

CHICKEN TV? I have never seen it!! Sounds great. I'm thinking that the loud mouth is missing his/her mom. I walked out there this morning and sure enough - loud enough to wake the dead. I spoke softly to her and she quieted down. They still had food and water, no messy bottoms. I stood there talking with them for a minute, all quiet. As soon as I walked away.....................Off she went again. I just hear her now, "Wait, MOM, come back! NO, I won't shut up! I need you NOW!! The others are picking on me!" (and of course their not) It was pretty funny.

I think Chick or chicken tv is referring to the way we can sit and watch the chicks/ens for hours. My husband and I have decided to rig a hammock up once we finally get our run made (no time for lying around until that is done

) so we can watch in ease instead of the uncomfortable crouching we're doing now.

OH! Well then I guess you could say that I watch A LOT of chicken and goat tv! My loud mouthed peep, that I have named Katie by the way, is much quieter today. But, LOL, now I'm worried that she's not peeping and chirping enough!! I must be crazy. She seems healthy and is eating and scratching and drinking. I guess I she was just homesick.

I have a couple loud mouths, mostly they seem to be missing thier mommies, and when I pick them up, or talk to them, they settle down. I have one who just wants to be held all the time! Some of them are just naturally clingy that way I guess, but they make the best lap chickens in the long run! Enjoy her if you can, hold her a lot, and she will be your favorite when she gets older!!

Good luck!

I bought two chicks at the feed store and when one died, the other drove me batty with LOUD chirping for a month until I posted about it and the great bycers suggested a mirror and stuffed animals. What a difference two little 75 cent beanie babies made! she is finally content:)
