mayor dumps shelter dogs in national forrest

WHat I don't understand is how is this man still mayor? what is he doing in his job? Aren't these concerns PART of his job? How is it he can admit to doing this and NOT GET IN TROUBLE??? It is ILLEGAL to dump animals....why is he not getting a huge fine for dumping them on national forestry land? The fact he did it is deplorable but WHY is not one doing ANYTHING about it? That's the big question here....

If he broke a law (presumably animal dumping is against the law there!) a humane organization - or anyone else for that matter - could file a complaint against him and he would in theory have to answer to the authorities on this. Hopefully this is exactly what will happen.

This guy is an idiot. He was just upset that the people were complaining on how the city kept the dogs, so he decided the "show them" and turned the dogs loose. Not in the city, but in the national forest.

I hope he is fired from his job. This just goes to show you what this man does when he just wants to sit on his ***. He didn't want to deal with them, he didn't want to deal with the dogs or people. He lied to the citizens. The dogs would have been better off euthanized than turned loose. The mayor broke the law. He needs to be fired.

When you are in an authoratative position, you do not act like a child. He needs to grow up.

As for the "pound" being dirty. Those people that complained about how the dogs were cared for should volunteer themselves. Don't make a big stink about how someone else is caring for the dogs and expect not to do anything yourself.

If the mayor doesn't want to run an animal shelter, then the animals should at least be euthanized. Packs of loose, starving dogs running free are only trouble for everyone. It's sad, but it would have been the more responsible thing to do.

If I lived there I would file a complaint-- and camp out in his office and complain daily.I would do what I could to get him fired and prosecuted- that is SOOOOOOO wrong. I agree even euthanasia would be preferrable.

If I lived there the doggies would be relocated from the national forest to the mayors property. LOL. Let him personally deal with the "free" pooches.

and all their "little" presents laying around his yard.

Turning the dogs out to fend for themselves...there are no polite words in my vocabulary to describe how I feel about this.

The article also mentioned that one shelter worker was bitten twice. Did he also turn that dog out? So this idiot has not only turned dogs-presumably dogs who have not been spayed/neutered-out, he also has potentially turned a dangerous dog out?

Oy.
