Mcmurray order

I ordered 25 Rocks from Mcmurray, sexing was 100%. All chicks arrived healthy and spunky. All survived and are doing well. This was a March delivery. Even though they are well my next order will be from a Heritage breeder only because these rocks did not measure up to the size I remember. They're not banty, not huge, somewhere in the middle.

I ordered 25 black star hens from McMurray all arrived healthy and in great shape and i ended up with two exotics instead of one! I would recommend McMurray after the great service and chicks they had to offer!

I've always had great luck with their chicks. I did have a couple breeds all turn out aggressive, but they are always so nice and healthy on arrival and the sexing is usualy very accurate. I have ordered many different breeds over the years and even won a show or two at our KY state fair.

I love my pet chicken hatchery! I recommend them to everyone I can. I ordered only chicks sexed to be hens and all of them turned out to be hens. They are also the only hatchery I have found that does not kill the extra chicks they have left over from hatches ( mostly males ). You can also order small amounts of chicks. I was considered to be in a rural area so I had to order at least 8. They came all alive happy and waiting to eat. They have almost I guess you would call them heat packs that they put in with the chicks for extra heat if needed. They will also some times send a extra chick or two but they only send the same breed and sex that you ordered. Hatcherys send " mystery chicks" that are males they thru in for extra warmth. Personally they are the only place I will order from. I will post pics of my latest order of chicks tomorrow.

Ok, so when you order from hatcheries, do you pick them up at the post office or the airport? With the post office, I can handle that; airport, not sure I'd want to fight the traffic...
Also, I noticed that they can come with vaccinations; do the majority of people that order from hatcheries have them vaccinated before they're shipped & what vaccinations are they given?

When I ordered from McMurray in Feb or Mar of 2008, the came on a Sunday morning and the nice lady at the post office called and said, "Are you expecting some baby chicks?" We said yes and she was here delivering them in less than 5 minutes. I had the brooder light on and everything ready to go before she got here.

My kids loved it.

Also, I got the Rainbow Layers. 11 of the 26 died within the first two days.. why, I don't know.

Of those that lived... mostly barred rocks. a couple of partridge rocks, a white rock and RIRs.. the Barred Rocks were so VERY aggressive. I ended up rehoming all of them.

I later got a BR that was from Ideal and she was the sweetest hen I've ever owned. almost feel badly I sold her but the gal that bought her needed her.

It is all about where you live. I had to pick them up at the post office. Because they would not deliver live animals but some post offices will. I would recommend talking with you post office before the day they are set to arrive, so you know what to expect. If they do not deliver the post office will call you as soon as they get them. My Pet chicken Hatched and sent my chicks on monday afternoon (they sent a email to let me know) and I got a call from the post office the next morning saying they where in. This last batch I ordered was of 6 Polish, 1 Partridge Cochin and 1 Black Laced Wyandotte. All of their chicken are pure bred as well. I do not get mine vaccinated, but they do offer it for Marek's Disease. This is a link explaining it a little better than I can.

Those are pretty chicks! I'm planning on ordering chicks this spring, and I was looking at McMurry's site, and after noticing they have the started pullets with chopped beaks, I decided i don't want to support that, so ive started looking at My Pet Chicken.

I ordered the same number from them at the end of May but since I opted out of the exotic they tossed in an extra BS. They just started laying this month and are great birds.

Your chicks are so cute! The mystery chick with the stripe down its back is definitely an Easter Egger. I have one that looks just like her. I got my babies last Thursday from Ideal Hatchery and they are all doing great! I ordered from Ideal because they are closest to me (TX and I'm in LA), they had very reasonable prices and I have only read good reviews about them. I would recommend them but McMurray sounds like a great hatchery too. Congrats on your chickies!
