Why do these two cuties refuse to reveal themselves - it’s driving me bonkers !

Not the greatest example, but he is a picture of a young cockerel. About 12 weeks or less old.
Looking carefully at the saddle feathers, you'll notice long, pointy tapered feathers coming out.

I have so many young ones that keep me guessing sometimes, but those saddle feathers should be coming out already at their age. If they are all rounded, you have yourself some lovely pullets.
I had a pullet one time that had me totally convinced it was a cock because of how large and red the comb was. At 4 months, I had to really sit there and slap myself. Her saddle feathers were rounded the whole time.. And I was so slow to realize it. Well, if you're still unsure, let us know when they start crowing or laying, lol

I'm going to say pullets. I see no cockerel specific feathering, their combs are not very big or red, and they have pullet patterns.

I wish I knew! First time chicken owner so I’m new to all this. Some of the other pictures show a better angle - but Svens colouring makes it hard to tell !!!

Thank you! I also have two RIRs - they are both male. I will have to give them away soon . Hoping to get a few more next year in the spring again ... really hoping these two are girls
