I wish you had gotten a picture of that!

Great story, just fed mine some dried mealies, my first poor girls are starting their first molt and the rest of my chicks are just growing up the ranks so I gave some high protein treats. The first time my 15 week olds had ever had them, they are hooked! Great story, sounds like something that could happen to me! :P

Second attempt not so good it was going good then I went out side to find 2 lizards in the meal worm tank started with 50 worms now I found about 5 starting to think I'm better off just buying them

I have mine for my 2nd grade classroom and I keep them in a dish tub with no cover...obviously away from the chicks, though...Your story made me LOL

It is really easy to keep and as long as you keep them hydrated with an apple/potato, etc they reproduce like mad. I feed my 24 chickens and a couple of friends bearded dragons with them. I've found that it's worth the saved $ plus I have the added benefit of my students watching the full life cycle of an insect which is one of their standards for 2nd grade :)

My only problem I've had is figuring out how to rotate them to keep them separate so I can easily pull out only meal worms. I've seen how people rotate them out as crysaliss but then you end up with eggs hatching and you have two sets of meal worms (which I've done). If anyone has suggestions, I'd love that.

Good luck with your mealworm adventures!
