Mealworms farming

looks like between 21st of oct and 23rd. Say the 23rd. So say they started laying eggs on 6th of november. They should start hatching between the 12th and the 20th of nov. That gives them only like 2 weeks to grow and the get to a quarter inch after six weeks or so and are berely visible in my tubs at four weeks after being laid. Sounds like you should see them within two weeks. Headed to bed now catch yall later.

I still do not see any worms in my drawer....I'm trying to be patient but it's kind of like waiting for that first egg! lol We have to go into town tomorrow and it's so windy,Yikes! Rae

Earlier when I went to switch out the veggies, I noticed this super tiny little oval shape stuck on one of the beetles' head. At first I thought, oh maybe it was a piece of veggie. So I watched the beetle and it tried and tried and finally got the piece into its mouth and started eating it... I realized as I watched it eating it that it was an egg.

the giants large and small mealworms. Yes same drawer. Theyre all the same bug just different sizes. The superworms are like their larger cousin and will eat them. They are the same in raising besides getting them to turn to beetles is a pain. Please let me know if you want info on that. I raise them as well. The waxworms are unknown to me on how to raise or breed.

I just received 5000 from Rainbow. Couldn't be happier. I'm using my garage and it's a bit cold so I have a heat lamp that I have pointed towards a 30 gal tank and a 3 drawer set-up.
I'm able to get the temp up to 80 degrees. Do you think this is ok? Should I be concerned about the light shining on the worms? Should I lay newspaper over the substrate & veggies that I have to protect them from the brightness or is it just the beetles that will need to be protected?

I just received 5000 from Rainbow. Couldn't be happier. I'm using my garage and it's a bit cold so I have a heat lamp that I have pointed towards a 30 gal tank and a 3 drawer set-up.
I'm able to get the temp up to 80 degrees. Do you think this is ok? Should I be concerned about the light shining on the worms? Should I lay newspaper over the substrate & veggies that I have to protect them from the brightness or is it just the beetles that will need to be protected?

80 is a great temp for them. Mine do best between 75 and 85. Airflow is important so no newspaper. The worms will be under the substrate mostly. And the beetles can be given paper towel and toilet paper rolls to hide in. If you cover the substrate with newspaper it will get too humid and may end up with mold and/or mite infestation. This is for the next row over third tub down. It holds the larvae from the seventh to the eighth week of growth. Almost .75 inches each. Sorry more arent visible but its only at full size that they like to stay on top of substrate.

This is my breeder bin. It holds larges pupating and the tiny tubs are pupaes i have pulled out and they change to beetles and climb up the cardboard egg crate. I shake them into a container and weigh them so i can have an accurate count of current beetles. Current count for my two beetle bins is 5684 beetles. Any questions please ask.
