Was given a 6 month old Silver lace Wynedott. Use to hand feed him and all was well.
We built the Dr. Suess house (pics Posted). We got 2 golden lace Wynedotts and the trouble started. They were about 4 months old and he picked his girl out . Well he has got to where U go out side to do anything around them and he wants to jump on you. They are free range birds we have acres for them to range on but they stay close to the house. He has got to the point where he keeps them in check. Came home the other day and one of the girls was in the yard dead. her feathers on her back side was all in a pile and her head was gone. it's like she was just setting their. Untill I got close you did not know anything was wrong. over the last couple of days the golden lace we got left is jumped by the Roo all the time. She stays under things to keep away from the Roo. He paces back and forth all day long keeping her himed up in one spot. Have tried to separate them but they just go round in circles under the house. Turn your back or start to walk off and he will run at you and try to jump you. Has he gone mad or is it just the Roo's way. I'm afraid he's going to kill the only one we have left...help ...really is their anything we can do short of getting rid of him or put him in the frying pan ?????
Thanks for your info...

It sounds more like there was an attack that resulted in the death of the hen and the rooster is reacting accordingly by having a heightened state of awareness/trying to keep his remaining flock member "protected" due to that attack. That being said, his other bad behavior began before this and is not going to improve - so I'd be sending him to freezer camp.

It's unlikely it was your rooster killed your hen. Head eaten off sounds like something a feral cat might do? I agree that your rooster has become aggressive and anxious because he doesn't feel safe and doesn't feel he can keep his hens safe. Give them a big protective run and a secure calm coop and see if his behaviour improves. If you "send him to freezer camp" your hens will not have any protection at all from whatever is scaring and attacking them.
