MeanCheek's Flock

My Chocolat Mint is finally coming back. Stupid rabbits

The other day I noticed one of the little ducklings has a kind of deformed beak. She/he seems fine though.
I didn't notice it before, but I don't know how it would have been injured.

Going to that show now.
I always wonder if the owners mind pictures of their birds being taken?
I wouldn't really, and don't see why they would, but I always feel almost guilty for taking pictures

Well I had no plans, but...View attachment 3270110I think this is his

Oooh, should be interesting to see how that little one feathers in! :pop Do you know who the mother is?

I'm the same way about taking pictures at shows! It just feels so awkward to me, I don't know why! It took me such a long time to get up the nerve to at the shows I frequent. I take tons of them when I go now and have never been told not to or anything, so it must be expected to an extent.

The mum is the Pyncheon. She hid a nest of all her own eggs, went broody for the fourth time this year, and hatched for the second time this year.
The Pyncheons are amazing moms (and dads, the cock never even pecked the chicks) and extremely protective of the little ones!
If anything they should be kept just for hatching. Who needs Sikies

Approximately 141 birds

Ducks: 5 Welshies (1 drake, 4 hens) , 4 scovies (hens), 6 mule ducklings

Quail: coturnix; 7 hens 8 cocks

Pheasants: 2 (a pair)

Turkeys: 2 (jakes)

Pigeons: 6 Brunner Pouters, 2 Old German Owls, 3 Arabian Trumpeters, 2 mutts, too many Birmingham Rollers (27, I think)

Indoor birds: 1 cockatiel, 1 conure

Adult chooks: 5 Spitz, 7 Pyncheons, 10 bantam Leghorns, 1 bantam Wyandotte, 1 Icelandic, 1 Lakenvelder, 7 OEGBs, 2 d'Uccles, mutts and others I've forgotten

Young chooks: 1 unknown cross, 3 Pyncheon crosses, 9 Spitz

(If you add that up and it's wrong, whatever is missing is a Roller or chook. If that's too many, it will soon be accurate)

Not me, anyway! I get all the joy of that fuzzy feathering without the traits I don't like in Silkies by having my silkied Cochins around. :love

Well, you've got me beat either way! I've got 80 chickens and a duck. 🤭 Hopefully I'll be down to ~74 chickens before winter hits here, which admittedly isn't a huge cut but they're all extra males from hatching so they really need to go.
