MeanCheek's Flock

Not me, anyway! I get all the joy of that fuzzy feathering without the traits I don't like in Silkies by having my silkied Cochins around. :love

Well, you've got me beat either way! I've got 80 chickens and a duck. 🤭 Hopefully I'll be down to ~74 chickens before winter hits here, which admittedly isn't a huge cut but they're all extra males from hatching so they really need to go.
I'd take one of your Cochins over a Silkie any day!

I wish I didn't have so so many.
And all these little ones! I'm going to keep them through the winter and maybe sell them in the spring, you know, like a smart person.

There are times I feel the same, but I love all of my birds and I really have a hard time letting go of them. The boys are easier, especially when young, because they're rowdy and rambunctious and chaotic, and it's so much more peaceful once they've gone, but I really struggle to let go of the girls.

And it's always nice to see birds I've only seen online in person.

Definitely! I've had a few occasions now where a breed I'd seen online and thought was just meh, I then saw in person at a show and, wow, they're actually quite striking! Sumatras, Yokohamas, and Cornish bantams come to mind. :love
