"The Teaberry Shuffle"! Just hilarious. I can picture him dancing like a boxer at the poor little kids. I don't often laugh out loud at what I read but this just kills me.

I actually have 3 White Leghorn eggs in the 'bator, if there's a cockerel I'm naming him Teaberry Shuffle II. I'll make him nice, though. Or at least try...

I had a game/barred rock that was mean to the hens and my mom, so he was sent to the neighbors(who have numerous chickens and guineas that freerange 24/7) As I was talking to my neighbor, we heard an awful shriek and a bunch of whistles. Apparently, my roo had found the flock of guineas, all of whom were in "hot pursuit" of him. As he ran in circles around our cars, 11 guineas followed him every where he went, and the 12th guinea was actualy hanging onto his saddle feathers as it ran

it was hilarious. A few days later we saw him freeranging beside te road. Apparently he made a peace treaty with the Guinea clan

This is Satan. He earned his name. Drew blood more than once. Had to take a big rake handle in the pen with me and use it most of the time to keep him off me. Finally got rid of him to someone that said they didn't mind a mean roo? They didn't have any children. I bet his new name is Stew!

My mom had a RIR rooster named Opie when she was about 7 and said he would follow her every where she went. Wait for her at the school bus stop, go down to the creek with her, follow her through the garden, etc... Well my mom had an older brother, 11 at the time, and Opie would attack him if he stepped foot outside of their house while my mom was there. She said Opie would flog him, spur him, chase him making horrible noises...

Mom said she cried when Opie became dinner.

Bitter for her, sweet for her brother!

Was a sweet little baby-the first bird I hatched myself. He's the black chick in the picture.

Then he grew up not only to defy me, but to go after my young brother when he was 5, attacking from behind!

What a coward he was! He went after me too, and my dad. See what a demon he was!

But really, such a pretty boy. What a shame.

Eventually he met his end by a hungry neighbor. He couldn't do any good in any other way.

Fractious Germaine used to attack the wire when anyone went by, or if he was loose he'd spur us, but was fine once he was being held.

He's much better since he had to have surgery for a sinus infection, and had to have twice daily facial irrigation & packing, & meds, for several weeks; although he still thinks about it now & then.

Unfortunately he's my best pullet producer, so he was worth 'surgerizing'.

since I have only been keeping chickens for less than 2 yrs-I have only had one roo...He was a Buff Orpingrton.. Very calm as a young cockerel--avoided us for the most part... Then he grew up, started abusing the girls-- One of them was screaming every 20seconds, he had bloodied and removed almost every feather from over 1/2 of the flocks backs and heads..Two hens would hide 99% of the time-refused to be anywhere near the flock.. he killed a pullet, flogged my dh and then he made the mistake of flogging our grandson..2yrs old @ the time..

Been w/ out a roo now for over a yr... It's so calm and peaceful and the girls seem so happy.
