Hi BYC family! Macho, our rooster, makes this weird ‘guttural’ sound. Sometimes, he makes it while hiding behind something at other times he is simply standing out in the chicken yard. He lives with 15 girls in a barn within a fenced-in area of about 1/3 to 1/2 acres. Fencing is over 6ft tall with additional chicken fencing at the bottom extending out about 3ft to prevent foxes/coyotes from digging underneath. So, they are protected and yet have plenty of room to free range.

Appreciate any guidance.

P.S. Tried to post video, but file was too big.

Interesting. How old is he? Does he crow? Does his breathing sound normal?
He was given to us, but, I think he’s between 1yr to 2 yrs old. Yep, he crows beautifully! His breathing is normal. He doesn’t sneeze, have a cough or sound congested.

I wouldn't be concerned, than. Like chicken-tender said, it could just be a sound his breed makes. Some of my chickens make random weird sounds 🤷‍♂️
