Hey everyone! Hopefully we had our last freeze last night
Flock is still cooped up... will spend tomorrow cleaning up their yard and trying to fix the net... I might have to get new nets... and then maybe they can go out... it’s just so nasty and muddy!

Can chickens swim????

Not really but they do float. They do catch hypothermia quickly. Here is a very young Ned having fallen into the pool. Watch as he cannot walk after he gets out. Ned does swim over to me. The normal body temp for a chicken is between 105°F and 107°F (40.6° and 41.7°C). He clearly could not maintain that temperature when in 84°F water despite the sun and hot air temp of 92°F. Even 92°F is below his normal body temp.
