Meet my Chick!

Mornin yall!
Anybody ever been spurred in the shin by a rooster!? I have and it hurts like heck!!! Don’t think it was unprovoked... I was putting my foot towards him to back him up.. which I always do and he attacked! But he attacked nonetheless! I swear it’s as though they have poison in their spurs!! Now mind you... I have a very low threshold for pain and any injury to me is magnified by 1000 so this was basically death to my leg!! Not to mention the after pain!
I am seriously considering rehoming him... but I’d kinda like to wait until the littles are integrated... he was very good last year with the new ones...
Here’s my bobo... excuse the prickles 😄 View attachment 2572297
Oh no WhoDat! I'm so sorry he did this, I hope it doesn't get infected! :( You definitely don't want a mean rooster around, hopefully it was a one time!

Dr Harry, reckons catch and nurse aggressive roosters to show them who is boss. I’ve tried this seems to work. Need a net though to catch him first. Good luck, he’s just doing what they do protecting his girls.

Interesting...so what exactly did you do with yours? It would probably be easier and less traumatic to pick him off of the roost at night!

:thumbsup That sounds a much better idea. I only did this once and yes he did get shakey feet when I nursed him and patted him. But he is a Silkie don’t know if they are calmer. He is a very good guard for the girls and crows at about midday when it’s time for a siesta under the wattle tree. He growls at the Currawongs too.

So you just held him and petted him? :)
