Do men get smarter when they get older.

I don't know. I haven't seen it happen yet.

We had a LARGE dead branch going directly over our house. I worried a strong wind or big snow would send it crashing into the house so after a few years of nagging everythime to snowed or stormed DH decided it was time the branch went. So he has his buddy over and instead of cutting small pieces off with the chain saw which they could have, they climb on the roof hook a chain around the branch, cut almost through the limb, hook the chain to the car and pulled. Break went the limb and crash went my deck. A hole the size of the grand canyon. So to fix the hole in the deck, he just took the deck apart. Now I have no limb and no deck. Guess I should be happy the limb is gone.

I don't believe it for a second. I have been watching my neighbors antics for 20 years and he's:
- screwed his hand to his garage roof
- cut every buried wire and pipe there is between our houses (I though he had set off a bomb the day he cut the main water line), he's has taken out our cable multiple times, and cut our phone lines
- the BEST one was the day I saw him standing on a tree limb with a chain saw cutting between him and the tree, sent the dh over to see if he had called for an ambulance yet

Sadly, the family moved last summer. He will be missed.

I don't know that I'm getting smarter, but I've become more aware of my faults. Not all of my faults mind you, but some. I really like to use the "artistic approach" myself and wait for that inspired moment when you just know how and when to begin a project. I hate to start a project just 'cause DW thinks it needs to be done.

My thirteen year old jumps down stairs on his bike and then complains when I make him wear a helmet.

He thinks that he should be allowed to set off firecrackers on the undeveloped grassland behind our house...during a drought, on a day with 30 mph winds.

At least he is still afraid of the wrath of mom, and doesn't do these things anyway.

Men don't get smarter as they age. They (men) just quit listening to the women that are telling them how dumb men are. If you don't believe me just read through some of the threads here on BYC, with the wives complaining about husbands.

Oh thank God there is hope!
I love my darling boyfriend but he can be hopeless sometimes. Though I must admit there are times he has more sense than I do. Together we are rather good at stumbling and bumbling our way through life.
