Merricks? What is it?

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm not finding much surprisingly about Merricks. I'm probably spelling it wrong, sorry if I am. But can anyone explain to me what it is, how they get it, signs and what to do, please

It would make my day on trying to find out what's wrong with our lil pullet. I don't want to put her down if I don't have too.
