Met my babies

The girls have learned to escape the run to go dust bath. It looks like I will be needing to extend the run so they have have the area they like.

They are growing fast. I can't believe how much bigger the dark ee has grown than the others. We also moved the fence so they could forage in the area they keep escaping to.

Yesterday and today we have left the pop door open when we leave in the morning. Yesterday went well the dogs didn't eat the chickens and the chickens did not go out of their yard when the dogs were out. So today we are trying it again. My husband is a stay at home dad. So the dogs are chickens are not left unattended for a long time. I am hoping that I can start leaving the pop door open when we are not home soon. the door does get shut when the sun goes down and gets opened when I get up in the morning.

Here is an update. My husband was mistaken Dot was not one of the killed chicks. The dogs got the baby Midnight (black sexlink) and pheonix (the leader of the pack and Easter egger). The did not leave thier coop much today. My husband fixed the area where they were escaping their large run and moved the plants they were after to them so they could forage through them in their area. Here is a pic of the ones we have left. My children are heart broken over the loss of their pets. They have learned a very important lesson about life. In a week we will start adding back to our flock.

Today we got some new chicks at the Elsinore Meet. I am loving my girls. Can't wait to see what they feather out too. Not sure of thier ages but I would guess about 10 weeks.
I have 2 Americanas (not sure if the types) and one Orpington (not sure what type). I would like to know what you all think.

Well it turns out that the one that was sold as an Orpington is in fact a Golden Comet. I can't find a lot of information of them but I am hoping she is a she. WE did some modifications to the coop and run. Added some shade and a couple rooting bars. The intergration of the new ones are going well. Here are some pictures. Let me know what you think.

So Eggcited!!! Dot found the nest box and has been in it all morning. I am hopeful there will be an egg when she finally leaves the box. Buttercup has finally left her side so hopefully she will get to laying now.
