Met my babies

Ok so I am trying to entice on of my jens to go broody. I have 5 eggs in two nests. It has been warm enough during the day to not need a hens body heat. I a little concerned about humidity. Next week I will be able to buy an incubator. I hope the eggs will last till then. Not entirely sure that my rooster mated with any of the hens before he was injured. I am hopeful. Here are the eggs at day two.

Tossed out eggs and gave up on making a hen go broody. The feed store had some nice chicks so we got an Austorlop (spelling), Delaware, Rhode Island Red, & Sicilian buttercup. We are working on names. In the mid fall I will be looking at getting some pure blue Ameraucans for showing at the summer fair.

RIP Snowflake. He lived a nice little life free ranging and protecting his flock. He wasn't getting any better even on the meds so we put him to sleep. May he rest peacefully.

I have really good girls. The older pullets don't seam to even notice the chicks much. I think next week we will start to introduce them one by one

I just noticed your ongoing thread with all its updates and wonderful pics. Very pretty chickens and eggs! Sounds good so far with the older ones and the chicks...Good luck with everyone!
