What fun!! Our Easter Egger Buttercup laid her first egg today!! I love the color!!

Here is a better picture of Buttercups egg. The color is weird. I think I'll be able to get a better idea of the color on the weekend when I am home to see it in the nest.

I have figured out that my little Splash Ameraucana Snowflake is a Roo! So instead of being upset chicken math kicked in and as soon as I have a broody hen she will have eggs. My hubby will not let me buy a bator. I am going to do about 3 eggs from each of my 5 pullets if they are all laying by then. Currently I have 1 Easter Egger laying and 1 Silver-laced Wynadotte laying. Now I just need my Buff Orprington, Golden Comet, and Blue Ameraucana to start laying. I also need someone to go broody. I want to start my experiment and make more chickens. Yes they will be mutts. all but the Ameraucanas. I just might need to build another 8x8 coop.
Chickens are so much fun and addicting.

Tonight is a sad night for our family. We had to put our rooster Snowflake down.
Our neighbor gave is 3 babies, of barn yard mix bantams. Should be interesting to see what they turn out to be.
