Metal roofs and condensation

I know, I've got some too and its still in a dirty old box just like yours. I ended up just coating the underside of my roofing with that flexseal stuff. It worked, had to do it very early so the coop could air out stuff is a little stinky.

I just read the specs for the stuff... It says it's for under metal roofing... I am so confused...

If you roof your Woods house like the one shown in post #14, it will be fine. Blackjack or tar paper will work. The key feature in that is the wood strips that provide breathing space between the metal roofing and what lies beneath it.

BTW, on a Woods house (and only a Woods house) I would not worry at all about condensation under the front part.....what I refer to as the scratch shed. You may get snow, rain or whatever blowing in for a foot or so, so a bit of extra condensation from above won't matter there. It's what happens above the birds on the roost.....in the back part......that matters.

That would work as a spacer to let the roof breath, but isn't water proof.

I think the times when I've seen that used was to create a space between the polyiso insulation panels and roofing, and used instead of the wooden strips?

I just slapped my metal roofing over 2x4s on my run roof. All 4 sides of the run are wide open chain link fence. I noticed some sweating on the roof but figured it was in the run and I wasn't overly concerned about it.

My issue arises when it rains and it rains a lot around here! The condensation is enough that it does drip down and makes the straw/pine shavings in the run damp. I'm seriously thinking about removing the roof and doing it right with plywood and tar paper. I just have to convince my DH to help me.

I have plywood then tar paper and screwed old corrugated barn roofing directly onto that, no spacers. It must get some air movement through the corrigations.
No condensation issues on the inside. Inexpensive and matches the other shed roofs.

Since your post is 2018, did you do this? It's the exact problem I'm now experiencing.

Since you posted in 2018, still not seeing any condensation? It's exactly what I was thinking of doing to my existing metal roof. Mine is just laying on top of a welded wire pen roof and screwed into some 3/4"x4" wood pieces to anchor it down. LOT of condensation.
