Meyer Hatchery 2 questions please

Yup but I'm gonna quit belly aching about it now. I'm sure everyone is sick of hearing me whine. I'm signing off, eating something really bad for me and going to snuggle with my dogs and DH and watch something funny on TV.

No one is sick of hearing from you!!! Everyone is equally concerned about your feelings and the well being of your chicks. Please don't think you're whining!

My power went out today due to the storm and I have eggs in the incubator. I think my head actually spun around Linda Blair style because my boyfriend left and came back 20 minutes later with a small generator that he borrowed from a co-worker. Thank God he did, because even though I wrapped the bator (loosely) with a towel, the temp dropped 13 degrees in about 45 minutes. They're set to hatch any day now, so I doubt that will be a problem.

Anyway, I know how you feel. EVERYONE here has gone through SOMETHING scary or worrisome or rotten while chicken keeping. That's why this forum exists, because we all need each other's support and advice in those times! If, God forbid, your little ones don't make it, you can place another order or get some chicks locally. Don't let the bad start ruin this for you.

^^^^^cosign this!!!!

Everyone here is equally chicken nuts and we care about your babies too. You aren't whining or complaining at all! I don't know what I'd do your situation...I can only imagine how you feel.

One thing though....animals can be tough little mudders when we least expect it. Chicks can go roughly 3-4 days without food/water though i think4 it's pushing it. Tomorrow will be day 3 and they should have a heat pack and be a warm room. You might be pleasantly surprised!! I hope your postal services resume tomorrow

Hold out hope! I got the call from the post office at 2 AM this morning and received not one update from the tracking number otherwise!

Thank you all <3

Still waiting here. Tracking number still the same. First truck delivered to post office this morning at 5:15 and no chicks, There is one more truck today at 7:30am and I'm praying they are on that truck, if not Ill have to wait until tomorrow. This is not easy or fun.

ETA: I just called my post office and the women there said she got in late today and missed the 5:15am truck.. OK, Im trying to not be annoyed. I'm trying to be kind but come on! They deliver the mail at 5:15 and your late for work??? Deep breath, deep breath. She promised she would call me when the truck returns. Not that I know my chicks are on that truck but..if they are, are they just sitting in a cold truck waiting for her to get to work??? UGH! Cross your fingers for me:fl

So what does the truck driver do when no one is there to receive the delivery?
How much snow did y'all get?
Hang in there....fingers crossed.

:DHi Merrymouse, Just want you to know i'm keeping my fingers crossed for your babies to arrive safe and sound. You have prepared so well for them!

@aart I guess he just drops off his other stuff and then maybe comes back??? No idea. The snow wasn't that bad got about a foot of snow. Never lost power.

@biophiliac Thank you <3

So I just talked to the main post office distribution center for my area and she said that Meyer never dropped off the package to the post office. She said they made the label but never dropped it off. If it was dropped off they would have to scan it in the system and it was never scanned in. So I have to call Meyer but they are not answering their phones. They don't open until 9;00am so I have about 30 more minutes to wait. This is so discouraging. May have to get my chicks elsewhere. I spent months picking breeds and I'm so sad about those poor little chicks if in fact they were dropped off and mishandled or whatever. :(
