Meyer Hatchery 2 questions please

Darn, I think I forgot to order the meal maker!

From Meyer:

15 Brown layer assorted (I like surprises)
2 Olive Eggers

From Cackle:

4 splash cochin
4 silver cochin
4 partridge cochin
4 white australorp

Nice assortment and it will be fun trying to figure out what you got on the assortment. Im super excited for my cochins. I love a big fluffy hen. At the time I ordered they only had partridge, I'll have to look up what silver and splash look like but they sound gorgeous

My only surprise will be the meal maker so it will be fun trying to figure it out. There;s a good chance it will be one of the more common ones I already ordered so it may not be too hard to figure out.
Oh I just checked their catalog and it says " We ship Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays depending on the combination of poultry ordered. Poultry are shipped for arrival at your local Post Office Tuesday through Saturday depending on hatch date. Whether you phone in your order or book it on-line, we will inform you of the arrival time frame. "
Yes, they gave me estimated arrival of Tues, Weds or Thurs of this week and I was ok with that its just the storm that worries me that they will be delayed beyond their the time they can survive.

Uh oh!!! Look what I see!!

Thats awesome! So my delay must have something to do with the storm. I don't think you had an issue because the chicks were traveling west and away from the storm. So happy for you you have to post pics when they arrive!!!

Also how many times can I check the tracking # before I'm officially labeled off my rocker

I think I checked it about 7000 times since yesterday and still no change....*sigh* My DH is at the point to which he just rolls his eyes every time I mention it now. Nothing like a snow day to bond with your hubby

Here's a quick video I took out my window. Its not "white out" at the moment. It comes and goes. I'll try to get another when its really whipping around with heavy snow. Not to bad right now.

I think you are labeled 'off the rocker" at 10,001 checks..so you are still good.

I've been watching this thread....
I hope every one's fluffy butts arrive safe and quick!

Crossing my fingers for you all!

FWIW my tracking number from Cackle didn't even update until after they'd called me from the PO. It didn't update any of the scans before then. It did only take a day to get to me though, but it still stinks not being able to track it. Thats better than Ideal, though, they don't even give you a tracking #!

ETA I used to live in MA, but in the relatively mild areas of Fall River and then Falmouth on the Cape. Right now MD is as far North as I ever want to be again, though, and I'm hoping to move a bit more south next year (as stressful as that is, since I may have to sell off my flock).

precious coop!
nasty white stuff!

I suspect that the boxes are trucked to a sort center and scanning there is done by an automated process. They have a series of conveyor belts that run through something like the grocery store scanners only bigger. Boxes are skipped by the mere fact that they are at a bad angle for the scanner. They don't get another shot at being scanned until they reach your local sort center, local PO, and finally the delivery driver if they aren't being held at the post office.

Now the question becomes do I wait patiently for the post office to call me, or do I call them relentlessly until they arrive? Lol! I mean from Seattle to where I am is only 90 minutes or so....but I'm guessing the truck will make several stops....ugh. I called once but no one answered....so now I'm sitting on my hands....
