AL??? as in Alabama?
Yes. Avian influenza, full stop on all movement of poultry in/out/within the state. Sucks for them.

AL??? as in Alabama?
I just remembered another time I was on duty but flew through Memphis and was able to get my birds. They had to go with me on an overnight to Knoxville I think. The front desk at the Hampton Inn gave me a really strange look as we checked in. I made the HUGE mistake of pulling out one of the dresser drawers once I got to the room, lining it with a towel and letting the birds out under the warmth of a bedside lamp. They went crazy and were increadibly loud. I just knew I was going to get kicked out of the place. Man I use to be nuts. I dont use the dresser drawers at hotels now. You never know what's been in there.
Oh my, I had no idea. Thats a little scary isnt it? Hope they can keep it contained.Yes. Avian influenza, full stop on all movement of poultry in/out/within the state. Sucks for them.![]()

I received my shipment from Cackle this today. They were sent the same day as Meyer so today is day 4. There were two DOA and the rest are probably going to be touch and go, but they're alive. They are interested in water but not food and there is at least one LOUD peeper (not a good sign) and two mouth gapers (also not good), and a few droopy drawers (no bueno). That was out of 20 ordered and no extras. So I will try to nurse them the best I can but I'll let the hatchery know about the late arrival and DOAs.
I will keep hoping for you that you get live chicks...it's still a possibility.
Yeah you're right. I jumped too quickly on that and failed my reading comp test for the day!Well, no, they said the donate them.

So happy your chicks came and unbelievable that some are alive. So about half of yours are doing poorly. Have you tried a little nutri-drench? Ive heard of many chicks arriving in this condition but with water and warmth they can perk up. I don't think food is of utmost importance initially. At least that is what I've read because these would have been my first chicks.MerryMouse fwiw....

Once they are all perked up post some pictures maybe tomorrow or the next day, I would love to see them.
No word from the post office yet. The 3:30 truck must have come by now. How obnoxious would it be if I called again???
