copy and pasted pics not mine

2-Buff Brahma 1- Barneveleder 1- GLW 3- Salmon Favervolle and a meal maker - all female .
Those Faverolle's are so stinkin' cute!! My BB lays a pretty tan egg with some dark spots on it. She doesn't lay that often but they're pretty. She's so mellow too. A bit standoffish from the others but not picked on or anything. I think they have the prettiest faces.

I feel your pain....youngest son went out around noon to check on his chickens and found his favorite little Silkie pullet dead. He thinks one of the bigger/older hens that caused her demise.
Awww, so sorry. That must have been horrible for him to find.

I googled images of Partridge Rock Chickens and I found a few with golden necks like Rocky, so I guess it is still safe to call her a Partridge Rock. Here is the googled image and below that the one of Rocky for comparison.

No real guess here but she's pretty! My neighbor has one and she's very pretty in person although quite bossy. But someone has to be bossy right?

It has been cold here the last few days (in the teens) but my daughter still goes out in her robe and snow boots so no problem with the chickens recognizing her. lol!
We've been getting 5 eggs a day most days too (6 girls laying). I am still waiting for the day they all lay. We have 2 nest boxes but we're going to add 2 more since they seem to be waiting in line for the boxes.

I'm getting about 2 eggs a day from the 5 Meyer pullets that are laying, plus the occasional third from one of the older hens that's still hanging in there. The rest of my girls have exploded--feathers everywhere! I feel bad for a couple of them with pin-butts right now. Our weather this morning was 16, it's now close to 30 I think. Still, they're doing fine so I'm not going to worry too much about them. :) I did have to plug in my heated water bucket, though. Their other buckets were frozen at least an inch thick and I wasn't about to try to break it only for it to freeze over again! Brr!

I have just a few recent pictures of my Meyer girls to share. They are 28 weeks old today, if I'm remembering correctly. :D My little Cochin bantam boy is tentatively back in the flock and doing very well. He seems to already be past the teenage hormone phase, at least.

Why, thank you!

So true you need a bossy flock leader.

So all of you talking about heated waterers, does anyone have any store bought kind that they would recommend? I only need one that would serve 22 chickens. I was planning to not get one, but realized that if I don't, we'll have to stay home all winter so I could keep swapping out their water. So really I only need one that would water 22 chickens for no more then 3 days. We usually don't stay away for more then 2 days, but I added on the extra day, just in case.

Just placed my Meyer order. I'm getting 5 barred rocks, 5 Easter eggers and 5 golden buffs. So excited can't wait!

Nice! Congrats! When is your hatch date?

Wow, 5 eggs a day? That's great. We've been averaging 3 from my 6 layers. My RIR, BO and WR are the reliable ones, the BR's do not lay as often and my EE still has not started back.

Great pics! Poor little Frou Frou, she is lucky to have waited so long though before getting her first molt.

@NotableNancy My chickens don't recognize me when I'm bundled up either. I went out a few weeks ago wearing a bright green snow hat, and they all FREAKED out. They did the same thing when I went out with brown and white striped gloves. They just have to get used to the changes.

@LynnEBC I don't know what the heated bucket that I have is called, but it is from TSC. It's a blue open top, 1 gallon bucket. It works great, and the water never freezes. I just have to refresh it a few times a day when the water gets dirty. I think the bucket was about $20. I have had it for three years now, and it works like a charm.

If you already us a galvanized waterer this is perfect for under it. This is what I have and so far so good.
