Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Someone had ask about the color of my Barnevelder's eggs and she wasn't laying at the time. She finally started last week so here is what it looks like. For comparison, on the left is from a Russian Orloff , middle is the Barnevelder & right is a SLW. All came from Meyer but the Orloff is from last year's batch. So the Barnie's egg is only slightly darker.

They are still a pretty color and a nice size for a new layer.

@NotableNancy My chickens don't recognize me when I'm bundled up either. I went out a few weeks ago wearing a bright green snow hat, and they all FREAKED out. They did the same thing when I went out with brown and white striped gloves.

They just have to get used to the changes.

@LynnEBC I don't know what the heated bucket that I have is called, but it is from TSC. It's a blue open top, 1 gallon bucket. It works great, and the water never freezes. I just have to refresh it a few times a day when the water gets dirty. I think the bucket was about $20. I have had it for three years now, and it works like a charm.
I guess I have not bundled up enough to scare mine yet. Tomorrow I sure will since it will be below freezing by then. A lot of them are scared of my gloves already.

Thanks for the info on the heated bucket, I'll look for that one.

If you already us a galvanized waterer this is perfect for under it. This is what I have and so far so good.

I have a plastic waterer, so guess that won't work

I just want something not too big since it will be just for days when I am gone. So far all the reviews for heated chicken waterers do not look too good. Guess I'll figure out something.

Beautiful eggs and I agree it is a pretty plate too. The eggs match the plate so well. That is a big egg for a new layer!

Yeah they are larger than my other pullets starter eggs, now she could have been laying somewhere that I haven't found yet. The 1st 2 were just laying in the chicken run and then she finally figured out the nest thing. They are a pretty color - sort of a reddish brown. Our local recycle center has a reuse shed where people can drop off good, unwanted items and that is where I found the plate. I thought it was so pretty and would make a good holiday plate.

Why, thank you!;)  So true you need a bossy flock leader.

So all of you talking about heated waterers, does anyone have any store bought kind that they would recommend? I only need one that would serve 22 chickens. I was planning to not get one, but realized that if I don't, we'll have to stay home all winter so I could keep swapping out their water. So really I only need one that would water 22 chickens for no more then 3 days. We usually don't stay away for more then 2 days, but I added on the extra day, just in case.

Nice! Congrats! When is your hatch date?

Feb 24. Yay!

My meal maker is now 10 weeks old. Is she a meyer's RIR or NHR? By now I'm learning what the heritage breeds should look like, but I'm not sure what the hatchery stock of either would look like. Or more like how they would differ. What do you think? She really is darkening which makes me lean toward RIR.
