Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Your older girls won't be too much older at that point, so all should go smoothly.

Just keep an eye on those babies and make sure you're still able to separate them again if the big girls decide to be meanies.

And yay, chick pictures!!

I saw a picture of salmon Faverolle chicks yesterday (I don't remember if they were Meyer or not) with just the cutest, fluffiest little cheeks!

I'm psyched for chicks right now! Resisting the urge to add a 10th chick to my order...

Hey, hey, it's 21 days to chick time for me--I guess that means they're setting the eggs for my babies today!

Oh for sure I'll be watching them integrate. We love chicken TV anyway!!! I am getting one of the Salmon Favorolles next week, can't wait!!! I hope it's a girl since I already plan on calling her "Lucy". Don't know why, but just wanted a chicken with that name. I'm weird!!!

I can't wait to see everyone's new chicks! I was buying feed today and they had a huge assortment of few day old chicks/ducklings and they were so adorable!!

My girls are in the big coop tonight. I moved them out early this morning to get used to it. They immediately flew up to the roosts and couldn't really get back down. It's not big enough to put a hay bale, and I don't even have any, so tonight my DH built a few step-down sort of things and hopefully they will start using them tomorrow. They also had never been on sand before and were a bit freaked out by that.
So we'll see how it goes tonight... almost lights out here. Hopefully they handle the cold/new coop well.
Nancy - In your experience, did you just leave your Brinsea on the lowest setting for when you 1st got your chicks? I am getting everything ready for these new ones and since it is my 1st time with the Brinsea, I have no idea. My husband helped me make the best brooder for this time around, I'll have to post pics of it once I get it all set up and before it is full of poop once the chicks arrive.

I love the 'deep end!!'

I left it on the lowest setting for about 3 weeks and then I raised it up one level. It's still on the middle level but actually, I think it would have been fine on the lowest the whole time. I think at about 2 weeks old, I raised up one side a bit with a little piece of wood under the legs, so you can always try that and see if it helps.
I forgot you got the Brinsea, I really love mine and when I put them to 'bed' last night, they just fussed for a good position for a minute or two, and then complete silence. They're not scared of the dark at all because they have always been in complete dark since 3 days old for bed time. I spent about $45 on a heat lamp and 2 bulbs for back up in case the ecoglow wasn't going to work out, but took it all back yesterday for a full refund. I would recommend it highly!
Just plug it in a few hours before the chicks arrive so it's fully warmed up.
And as I took each one out of the shipping box, I dipped their beaks in water and then pushed them under the heater. They started to come out pretty quick for water and then seemed a little lost. So I showed them the way back under again and they were pretty happy!!

Let's see...

1 Buff Brahma Bantam, as mentioned
2 surprise colored Silkies
1 Black Copper Marans
1 Black Australorp
1 Silver Laced Polish
3 Easter Eggers

Going for a mix of fun looks and fun egg colors. I am finally past the two week deadline for order changes, so now I'm no longer fighting myself to keep from adding more.

Congrats on moving your girls to their grown up home!
Great assortment. I love watching the EE's change!! Are the Silkies always straight run? My son really wanted one but I was afraid if I got one it would be a roo and I'd have to give it away. I got him a white cochin instead and she is very friendly!!

I think, if you buy direct from Meyer the silkies are all straight run, but if you order from My Pet Chicken, the chicks come from Meyer but you can get your bantams sexed. It's pricy, but possibly worth it if you can't have roos.

Super!! What else are you getting??

WooHoo... so excited for you

My girls survived the first night in the coop!! And it was down to about 40 degrees.
My husband surprised me with a camera out in the coop so I am able to check on them anytime I want...even on my phone! Just too much fun
Now I have to get them down off the roosts today!!
Ooooo

that sounds Aaaaamazing! Will have to look into that for us...maybe...if I can convince DH it is necessary.
Yayyyy!! Excited for you!! What are these "other orders" that that you mention?
Last year we ordered 4 chicks, 3 survived and just last month we got in 4 ducklings.
