Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Looking forward to all the promised pictures! ;)

Best of luck on integrating your girls, Lynn! I don't know what the age difference will be between your little girls and your big girls, but my girls seem to integrate best after having at least a month of 'look but don't touch'. :)

:celebrate Three weeks from tomorrow, I'll be picking up my Meyer babies! I'm getting excited!! :D

I think we have people on this thread with chicks coming for the next 3 weeks now. Great, more chick pics! Mine hatch a week from today!

Thanks for the advice. When my chicks arrive next week my older chicks will be 11 weeks old. I plan on moving the chicks in when they are 1 or 2 weeks old, so the older chicks will be 12 to 13 weeks. They'll be in the protected area. So I will probably do like you and try the month once they are in there. Also, I will be paranoid that they will hurt them, so it will be supervised for awhile.

Our first two girls started just by flapping their wings and making little holes when they were only a few days old, the crazy contortions didn't start till after they were a week or two old. I thought it was just adorable and hilarious at the same time.

This is what we are getting, they hatch/ship on Monday the 22nd, just next week!!

It will bring out new total up to 28 (ducks and chickens). As of last year this time we only had 2 chickens...I think I may be an addict

(but I got DH hooked on ducks...hehehehehe)

The new 8x12 barn is supposed to be built tomorrow and I plan to finish out the inside on Saturday. That way I can move the girls into their new home. It will be a shock to everyone I'm sure, especially since the new ducklings will be joining them.
Have your chicks been shipped yet?

Your older girls won't be too much older at that point, so all should go smoothly. :) Just keep an eye on those babies and make sure you're still able to separate them again if the big girls decide to be meanies.

And yay, chick pictures!! :D I saw a picture of salmon Faverolle chicks yesterday (I don't remember if they were Meyer or not) with just the cutest, fluffiest little cheeks! :love I'm psyched for chicks right now! Resisting the urge to add a 10th chick to my order...

Hey, hey, it's 21 days to chick time for me--I guess that means they're setting the eggs for my babies today! :D

I can't wait to see everyone's new chicks! I was buying feed today and they had a huge assortment of few day old chicks/ducklings and they were so adorable!!

My girls are in the big coop tonight. I moved them out early this morning to get used to it. They immediately flew up to the roosts and couldn't really get back down. It's not big enough to put a hay bale, and I don't even have any, so tonight my DH built a few step-down sort of things and hopefully they will start using them tomorrow. They also had never been on sand before and were a bit freaked out by that.
So we'll see how it goes tonight... almost lights out here. Hopefully they handle the cold/new coop well.

Here's a few pics of my 8 week old Meyer chicks. They are going out to the big girls house tomorrow ...

These are left to right ... Professor River Song the Buff Brahma, Hazel the Bearded Easter Egger, Pebbles the Barred Rock, and Pearl the White Jersey giant. In the back is Moneypenny the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and Amy Pond the Buff Orpington.

I am so excited, my first order from Meyer is coming in two weeks! We have a Buff Brahma Bantam in the order which is probably going to be named Astrid Peth, so she'll be in good company with your River and Amy. ;-)

My girls survived the first night in the coop!! And it was down to about 40 degrees.
My husband surprised me with a camera out in the coop so I am able to check on them anytime I want...even on my phone! Just too much fun
Now I have to get them down off the roosts today!!

Super!!  What else are you getting??

Let's see...

1 Buff Brahma Bantam, as mentioned
2 surprise colored Silkies
1 Black Copper Marans
1 Black Australorp
1 Silver Laced Polish
3 Easter Eggers

Going for a mix of fun looks and fun egg colors. I am finally past the two week deadline for order changes, so now I'm no longer fighting myself to keep from adding more.

Congrats on moving your girls to their grown up home!

Good job Nancy!! Glad they did okay. I wish I had a camera inside my coop, my camera just shows the outside.

It is so hard not to add more chicks. Lucky for me the other chicks that I "tried" to add were not available. Nice selection. Can't wait to see your pics, especially the bantams, so tiny and cute! I want some!!!
