Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Agree with you, looks like a boy. My SLW hen is 9 weeks and still does not have much of a comb. Are you going to keep him?
No, probably not. Unfortunately. I live where there are LOTS of houses. I will however keep him until I am absolutely positive. At least until he pretties up and gets his proper SLW coloring, so that he may be easier to re-home. Bummer.

Thought I'd share this picture here, since it was one of my Meyer girls, good ol' Frou-frou the blue splash Marans.

I put fresh sand in the chicken yard a couple days ago. Yesterday, I went out to find Frou-frou dust bathing in the middle of the walk way from the gate to the coop, apparently in chicken bliss:

OMG... you scared me at first... from the pic I thought something was wrong with Frou-frou!!

Mine look possessed when they dust bathe!!

Got 19 from Meyers 4 weeks ago--3 died in the first 3 days. Here are a couple photos.

3 days old

4 weeks old

THis is what happens when you don't realize how fast and big they get in 3 weeks. Still to cold to put out in the coop so I had to add a "run" area to the brooder in the basement. Little chicken wire and bird netting and now they have lots of space.

That's some real creativity

Our first two girls started just by flapping their wings and making little holes when they were only a few days old, the crazy contortions didn't start till after they were a week or two old. I thought it was just adorable and hilarious at the same time.

This is what we are getting, they hatch/ship on Monday the 22nd, just next week!!

It will bring out new total up to 28 (ducks and chickens). As of last year this time we only had 2 chickens...I think I may be an addict

(but I got DH hooked on ducks...hehehehehe)

The new 8x12 barn is supposed to be built tomorrow and I plan to finish out the inside on Saturday. That way I can move the girls into their new home. It will be a shock to everyone I'm sure, especially since the new ducklings will be joining them.
