so Im not sure whether to be excited or wondering if they really did ship and its just saying that on Meyer. Im thinking they did because I checked it several times early this morning and it was between 730-830 that the status changed...Everyone keep your fingers crossed

Yes! I agree! I love coming to this thread and hearing all the chick stories and seeing all the pictures of the chicks growing up.
I'm getting my 8 chicks from Meyer's, due to ship out the week of July 16th. So I still have a LONG wait ahead of me. I would of ordered them for the end of April/beginning of May, but my family is going on TWO vacations this year, one in May and one in June. I just don't want to miss all that time with my chicks (they grow up so fast)!

I think I'm going to have a great Summer, though!

You do have a long wait, but are wise to wait until you can be home to care for them. You'll enjoy your summer though and will probably have eggs through the winter.

I'm sure they shipped since the website said so... now the wait begins again, which day?,,,, tomorrow? or Wednesday? I wish the PO updated their shipping more, that is the most frustrating part wondering where in transit they are and when they will arrive. Good luck!!! We're ready here for those new chick pics!

I got 6 Barred rocks 6 light brahma pullets 2 light brahma males and 1 partridge cochin pullet should be here April 2-4 I can't wait
Looks like you're the next one up after Farmguy/girl this week. Have you had chicks before? Nice selection. I'm curious to see the light brahma's and the partridge cochin as chicks. I don't have any of those.

pipdzip: Thank you for the info. All my BR's are very similar in color and none have more white and all have not much of a comb and no wattles, so I think you're right, all hens. They do have huge legs though, but are big chickens and they grew fast.

The pics of the EE's I put were actually not the best pics, they were doing a little sun bathing so some of the under feathers were showing, when they are standing both of them look pretty even in coloring, no splotches of color anywhere yet and barely a comb. so hopefully hens...

Glad to hear that light coloring does not mean rooster.

Nancy: My EE's did not have green legs as chicks, I have noticed the legs getting green the last couple weeks and they look greener each day almost neon in the sunlight, pretty neat!

pipdzip: I do question my Columbian and Silver Laced Wyandotte still. Do long legs mean rooster? I'll have to check both to see how many rows of the rose comb they have.

I am assuming my leghorn and RIR's are all hens, I hope I am right about them. If all my chickens end being hens, that would be great!!!

Oh, good. 3 have light green legs and the 4th has yellowish.

Thanks for the info Lynn and Nancy I was just wondering how the email thing works...maybe I will get one later on in the day

Yup, don't worry about the email. If the website states shipped I'm sure they're shipped. And, I think there is a tracking # right on the same page that states
they shipped so you can see at least when they made it to the airport.

Can't wait!!!!!

No problem. :) I recall my barred Rocks having pretty big feet, but they're all girls. They're also among the largest in my flock now.

The SL Wyandotte I think is a girl. Boys tend to have solid black necks and mostly white shoulders at around that age. Leg size, specifically thick legs, can indicate boys, but it's usually leg size in combination with other factors, which is why I am leaning toward pullet on the Columbian Wyandotte. Not much comb, no obvious wattles, etc.

Your Leghorn is for sure a girl. Even the hens get big combs in Leghorns, and your girl has a tiny comb in comparison. Nothing about the Rhodies seems boyish, either. My two accidental Rhodie boys had pretty prominent red combs by that age.

Well got the email and call from Meyer!!!!!

Went to TSC and got pine shavings for when they get here Im off work tomorrow the wait is going to kill me. I am hopeful for a one day deliver but the realistic part of me reminds me that it will probably be on wednesday..Tracking number is trash as far as Im concerned they always seem behind(in my experience with usps tracking anyway) but thats ok!! I know they will get here
