Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I wish it did too! I wanna add a few rare egg layers but I ended up adding 2 silkies, a frizzle and a BLRW. I was gonna add the rare layers to my 9/30 order but hubby got the credit card bill with all the Meyers charges and he took my Meyers catalog and said he was gonna take my ipad if I got anymore. So maybe next year lol

SOOOOOOOoooooo??!!??? Several of us have ordered 15 of the Brown Egg Layer Assortment for delivery next week. Can you please tell us what you received in your assortment (I know it may be different for everyone, but I'm just wondering if I should expect 5 red sex links, 5 something boring, and 5 buff orpingtons)?

THANKS
Sara
I ended up getting these breeds but I'm cant remember how many of each. I also got 1 meal maker, 1 extra Meatie, and 1 extra Assorted layer.
Golden Buffs
Rhode Island Reds (lots of these but I ordered 3 separately too so they might give you more of the breeds you already ordered)
Barred Rocks
Australorps
and possibly a couple Welsummers? I'm not sure yet, they look different than the Rhodies

I guess we will wait until next year for meat birds and turkeys. We just wanted one turkey, but you have to order at least five. The meat birds are not ready on the same hatch date too, plus I think we are not quite ready for them. I'd rather have a separate place for them.

Thank you for your reply.

My order was for 30 layers and 50 meaties and they came in 2 boxes but some meaties were in the layers box. I only paid the 17.99 S&H for the 77-101 chicks.

I had to share with you guys. Not only is Big Mama starting to eat again, but she was up on the high roost this morning when I went out. She never has gotten up there before because of being at the bottom of the pecking order. I was shocked, so great news!

I just hope that she can get down!
That's so good to see!! Glad to hear you saw her eat too.

I would almost rather go back to the rain we were having every day. At least it wasn't 92 degrees while raining! We are supposed to be in the 90's for at least the next 5 days.
I tried giving the girls watermelon but of course they didn't like it. I'll try again. I froze some tomato pieces and grapes and will give them tonight to hopefully help cool them off. I'm much more wary of the heat than the cold with them. I don't want to lose any from this hot weather!

Thanks for the info, that helps manage my expectations. I didn't order anything except the 15 Brown Egg Layer Assortment. My only real hope is that I don't get more than five of any one breed. Do you think there's any difference personality-wise between the Rhode Island Reds and the possible-Welsummers, or do you just think they might be different because of the feathering?

So glad to keep seeing good news on big moma and oreo when I log in.
We have had 2 eggs from our BR but the BA and EE haven't laid yet. Can't wait to see our EE's egg!!!

We liked the assortment we got (rare pullets). We only got 5 but I was happy with the breeds (too bad 2 died and we'll never get to see what they were).

Cochins are one of my favorite breeds. I just love our blue cochin.

I realized today is 1 month till my babies ship! I have to say I've been waiting since April and it hasn't been that bad. And even better I've finally settled on what I'm getting. Meyers def is great about letting you change your orders, between the 3 orders I've changed them at least a dozen times and they have been so nice about it! I think I'm most excited about the ducks tho.

I've been trying to keep ducks since I was like 7 and my parents weren't going for it. Almost 20 years later I'm finally getting some! The house I grew up in was on a lake that was full of Muscovys and a half dozen mallards and Pekins someone rescued. Someone down the road has Muscovys so I'm hoping maybe next year they wouldn't mind selling me a few eggs that I plan on giving to one of the silkies. I wish Meyer did have a min of 6 for the sovies, my husband and I love them but 6 is a bit much right now.

I have a remaining RIR, Ash and she is pretty sweet, just more stand offish then some of the other breeds. She gets a lot closer to me now too since she is almost at POL. She squats for me, I rub her back and she steps away and ruffles her feathers briskly afterwards. The cutest thing to see. So I love the RIR's. Ash is also the new leader of my group of 6 chickens now. Both the RIR's I had were near the top of the pecking order, but the BR's and one of the EE's were the leaders.

The Welsummer I had was a really sweet chick, I only had her for 8 weeks, but she was the sweetest little chick and easily touched and seemed to really like people. She was not one of the leaders of her group, but was not really picked on either.

So there is a difference, but it is a good difference, you'll enjoy both breeds I'm sure.

I am getting the Rare Egg assortment because I am really hoping that I get some Welsummers, they are not available for my hatch date. Of course I would bot mind a Maran either.

I love the cochins too, I want another but none are available and it is very limited for the assorted cochins, so I am not sure I'll be able to get one.

Oh the EE eggs, that's why I want more EE's

Oh and thank you, Big Mama was trying to fly today too. I have no idea what exactly was wrong with her, but she is slowly coming out of it. I think eating a lot now is making her healing go even faster. Her left eye is almost completely open today.

I keep changing my order too. They are super nice to help out, love their customer service.

I was curious, do ducks not fly away when you have them?

Not the ones I ordered. Muscovys do fly but from what I hear ppl just clip their wings like you would a pet bird. But a lot of the common ones kept as pets are to heavy to fly. I've heard of ppl keeping breeds that do fly like mallards with heavier breeds that can't and that helps keep them from flying off every winter. I guess it works cause the ppl who have the scovies also has a blue Swedish which can't fly and I've never seen them off their property.. Well besides the middle of the road that they live on which is a 55 mph highway but that's a different story.
