Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I don't think those cheeks could get any fluffier! They are too cute!

I'm trying to arrange a pickup of some cream legbar eggs for our broody cochin this weekend. I'm surprised DH didn't freak out but he said it would be neat to watch her hatch and raise them.
I'm also trying to arrange a pickup of a silkie/EE chick. My daughter has always talked about this cross and was very excited with the possibility of getting one. I think it's about the same age as our other chicks so it should work out.
We really need to find a new place to live soon. We will be up to 20 chickens soon and we are only allowed 6!!! Luckily it says animals under 4 months of age don't count toward your limit. So we have a few months left. I never would've imagined chickens would be a reason to find a new house! lol
That's exciting. I look forward to hearing how that goes with your cochin. I'd also love to see what an EE/Silkie chick looks like. Maybe Nancy can hatch one out for you when her new chicks start laying?

I hope that you have luck finding a new home soon.

LOL, you KNOW I want Cream Legbars too!!
I was thinking I should put a list together of breeds I don't want because that's shorter. Can't wait to see if you get a silkie/EE chick!!
As far as only being allowed 6 chickens... I assume someone would have to turn you in and then the twp would come out and check?
Are you on good terms with your neighbors and do they have any chickens?

Well Brabanters are on my want list so we're even! I've had to work really hard to keep our list of wants short. Well, at least it seems short since I've moved a bunch from the Want to the Have list lately. lol
Correct, someone would have to turn us in which is why I've been ok with the up to 12 that we've had. None of our neighbors have chickens but they all have barking dogs. If they've even noticed our girls I don't think they'll complain since they know we could complain back. We don't talk to one and are on pretty good terms with the other 2 since DH fixed the fence between our properties without asking them to pay anything. Problem is our coop is only 4x4 so 20 chickens would not be a very good fit. Plus we only have a 1/5th of an acre. We'll need something bigger than that! lol

I'm in the same position. I just learned that we can only have three livestock animals per acre. What is that?! Anyway I have 1.5 acres with 6 chickens and 4 more on the way. None of my neighbors have chickens. We get along well with them. My one neighbor is on the county council o(r something) and she didn't seem to mind. I'll be bribing them with eggs if need be ;)

yeah they tryed to say somthing like that over here with roosters but it says something crazy like you can only have 1 rooster per 10 acre's etc well i have a test pair of bantams outside in the coop right now and no one broke down my door yet so i guess it's ok.

In our town here in NC they list the poultry separate then the livestock animals. It's 20 poultry per acre and 1 livestock animal per acre. We're limited to the amount of cats and dogs too. I think if you have more then 3 you have to get a special license over the normal one. You would think SC would be more accepting since it is also a rural state with a lot of farmland. Guess it's just the city you're in?

It does help to give eggs away to neighbors. We really only have two neighbors close enough to complain, but they now buy eggs from us and their daughter likes to help gather them too, so we're good there. The other neighbor has a son that is always being arrested and is not too friendly, I don't think they'd bother calling us in if we went over the limit since they have their own trouble.

It was my black Easter egger

I just picked up my Brabanters (adorable!!!) and as I was chatting with their chicken guy, he said he was expecting some Crested Cream Legbars later today Aaaahhhhhhh!!!!
They are from a breeder in the area and she just had 22 hatch and has a family emergency and can't give them the attention they need so she is selling them to the farm store..... OK, put me down for 2 and I'll be back tomorrow to get them!!

So as I was paying for my 2 chicks i hear a man yelling from the back of the store, "Nancy, they're here"

And now I don't have to drive all the way back there tonight or tomorrow!! The breeder said they lay beautiful large bright blue eggs!!

pics to come...
